In my search for a tube to replace my 4900 tube, I grabbed an RCA 19" TV hoping it had the right tube. It did not (different pin count)

My question is this: When I removed the tube from the TV, I noticed the white plastic piece around the pins at the very end of the neck was glued on(to the neck). On the 4900, the plastic piece is glued (and comes off with) the neck board. Should I be trying to remove the glued on piece from the new tube, or possibly the piece out of the neckboard if this happens again with the correct type of tube

FYI tube type was RCA 19VLPN22

It's my first potential tube swap, so I basically know just about enough to be dangerous....

Thanks, and I apologize in advance if this is really dumb question.

I don't see that in the tube reference list for the tube checker, but simliar numbers in that range are CR-6 so I guess thats a no-go. Does it look like it has a thin neck? Even so, send me or post up the make/model of the tv and I'll add it to the list for the heck of it.

Normally the neckboard is "glued" (siliconed) to the tube for shipping purposes from the factory to keep the neckboard from vibrating loose. (siliconed between the neckboard socket and the white plastic piece on the tube)
The white plastic piece that the pins from the tube actually protrude through usually stays WITH the tube. They do tend become brittle or loose from the heat of the tube and will come off. (just usually in broken pieces)
Couple dabs of super glue should fix it up though.

Are you sure that you didn't transpose the numbers: VLNP, vice VLPN? If so the tube you have is not compatable with standard chassis. But, it may work with a WG6100 vector monitor, if you have no desire to keep the tube I'd like to get a few parts as well as additional data off of it...
