I am trying to swap the tubes in my HOTD3. The tube in it has bad burn from another game. I have a perfect tube that came from a Daytona 2. I swaped both tubes with no issue, but when I start it up I only get a black screen with some blue lines. The original tube is a A68AEG25X07 the new tube is a A68KVL4X01. The chassis is a WG chassis the only thing I can think of is the tube cant display at 31k. Any help would be great.

Did you swap yokes, or make sure they're compatible between chassis'? The tube can display anything you can drive it with, assuming the pinout is the same.

I was going to, but the yoke on the old tube was a bonded one so I couldnt take it off(or can I?) I can post pics if it will help. Its a d9200 chassis so I think I am out of luck unless I find the right tube.

Thanks,
Keith

Check the impedence of the yoke. If they are close in resistance they should swap fine. Otherwise you have to swap the yoke.

Thats my issue normaly I would swap the yoke too, but its bonded to the tube. I havent heard of anyone getting it off with out breaking the tube.

I haven't heard of anyone making a chassis work with an incompatible yoke either ;) . You should compare the resistance between the two.

Thanks for the relpys. I checked the vertical defelction(yellow and brown) on both tubes, but I cant get a stable reading. Whats the proper way to check I forgot?

Just put the multimeter on ohms (200 ohms if not auto-ranging) and stick the probes in the yoke connector on both vertical and both horizontal connections. Of course the monitor needs to be off, and the connector needs to be disconnected from the chassis.
