If I were to use a computer VGA monitor in a typical 19" arcade cabinet... what size monitor is compatible? Yes I know VGA monitor is not compatible with arcade boards... this is for another project.

Desktop monitors were sold as 19" and 20" which one has the right size of tube?

Silly question... but I've not seen it asked...

You want 19" viewable diagonally. Not sure if cased or uncased would be different....

And just like TV's, you may find a " 19" " tv, but it actually has a 20" tube in it. Seen the same thing with PC monitors many times. Like Mod said, start with looking at 19" viewable monitors, but in all reality you'll have to open it up and see if the tube numbers match size wise to a 19" arcade crt. The tube part numbers usually start off with the actual tube size, so a 19" arcade monitor is like "A48". The 48 being centimeters, which equates to like 18.89 inches or so. So by looking at the tube number on your potential monitor you can find out if it'll drop in and either be a 19" or 20" tube.

This is really great info guys... thanks. I have a huge pile of PC monitors getting ditched and I wanted to know what to look for... I think I'll make a string that is marked to length and use it as a quick check so I can sort then I'll de-case and look at the tube itself.
