Tube compatibility

That post has absolutely nothing to do with the OP's question.

To answer the question, G07's and K4900's use a 29mm (fat neck) tube, and most K7xxx 19" monitors used a 22.5mm (skinny neck) tube. Although SOME K7xxx chassis were outfitted with neckboards that had a 29mm neck socket on them, but they are not as common.

tl,dr; most 19" tubes are interchangeable, yes. As long as the neck socket matches.

You're right, I mis-read the question. Apologies

most 19" K7000s I've seen were fat necks actually. :p I got like a cornucopia of those things at work and I've only recently come across I think 2 or 3 skinny necks. all the K7200s (literally like 2 or 3 in total) were skinny necks I think. and I have one K7300 tube that's a fat neck. obviously that's all over the board.

the socket types are CR-31 for 8 pin skinny neck and CR-23 for 10 pin fat neck. the tubes, depending on the neck pins, are in fact interchangeable yes, but every one of those has a unique yoke. the 4900 I think was the one that even came with 2 different yoke types, low impedance and high impedance, I think the vertical sections are massively different between both. the G07 has its own whack yoke plug too, but also very different if you're into the ohming the yoke thing.

as such, if you do any tube swapping, you're going to want to transfer the old yoke over. I've never had issues with convergence doing this, mark both sets of convergence rings with a line across the rings themselves to keep track of their positions and also mark lines around where they're physically mounted on the glass neck by drawing lines on the glass. I personally do it at the very top so you can get the centering right. but the rings you keep I think are from the new tube, it's been awhile since I've done it. mark the old tube/rings the same way. one of those ring sets should get it 95% close.

Thanks for the info. Actually the link to post #27 in the other thread answered some of my questions as well. Thanks guys!
