If a casual fan of both series were to decide on just one of these pins for home use, which would be the better choice? Which holds up better? More fun to play? Do both games have strenghts and weaknesses? For those of you lucky enough to have both, if you had to get rid of one, which would it be?

I like Family Guy better myself. Has great music, sounds, quotes. If you like family guy's humor then you'll love all the quotes from the show. It also has tons of modes and a couple different wizard modes I believe.

I wouldn't even buy a TSPP, played it a bunch of times and wanted to love it but it just doesn't grab me for some reason...

TSPP BY FAR!!! This one isn't even close!

TSPP is much deeper, has more variety in shots, has a better theme, is more challenging, and is generally more satisfying. The art is a lot better on TSPP too.

For reference, TSPP is ranked #10 on ipdb.org while Family Guy is at #83. Both are really fun games, but I do feel like the difference in quality is night and day between the two. TSPP is a verifiable top ten game while Family Guy is just a nice game.

Of course this is all my opinion. :D

I would personally go with TSPP over FGY. Now with that said I don't see myself getting rid of either anytime soon.

TSPP has a lot going on, and I mean a lot. There is great TV modes that make great use of the playfield. You have hurry-ups while Comic Book Guy taunts you. Various multi-ball modes, and even other little things to do like collecting the tree house rewards and such. I also like how all of the modes stack and everything run's on the same timer, which resets when a new mode is started. TSPP has some humor to it, not quite like FGY but it's in there.

FGY is by far the funniest pin I have ever played. All of the quotes are from the first couple of seasons of Family Guy, and there is some funny ass ones in there. The TV modes are good, but I feel TSPP modes are better, mainly do to how they are completed. There is a few different multi-ball modes, again I feel TSPP has the better multi-balls though. I would say FGY is more casual freindly then TSPP, mainly becuase of the rule set. FGY does have a good rule set though and is fairly deep, at least deep enough for my sorry as pin skills. I do think FGY feels better as far as build quality though. Not to say TSPP is cheaply made, but there is definitely a difference in how the flippers and such feel, at least with my 2 machines.

I would say if your seriously considering picking up one or the other. Take a look at the rule sheets and read through them and see what interests you more. Then find both games and play them. Neither pin is cheap unless you find a route beater, so you probably want your first decision to be the right one, although as long as you don't overpay getting rid of either should not be to big of a deal.

There is a lot of stuff in both pins that I have not even seen yet, so take my opinion for what it is. I know there are others on here who own one or the other, or both, that are better players then I and can probably give you a better idea.

South Park??? Have you played it more than twice?? If so you've done all that pin has to offer. Kill Kenny, hit the shitter, play endless multiball. I like the show, but this pin is a giant Mr. Hankie.

Have to agree here, I played South Park a few times and it just doesn't do it for me either, and I am a fan of the show so the theme is alright with me. It is a fairly easy and straight forward game. Also the voice calls and such are very dated considering this show is still current. It would be cool if they redid it like they did with the Simpson's.

South Park is my least favorite pinball machine of all time. The game is a total mess and by the second ball you will have seen every mode, heard every voice, and have hit every shot multiple times. It's really, really, easy and very bland.

Seth M. did tons of custom voicework just for the pin for Peter, Stewie, Brian, Quagmire, and Tom Tucker. As for existing material, Stern pulled sound clips from Season 1-5 (when the game came out, the farting-bubble-gum Match Sequence hadn't even aired on TV yet). For instance, Ipecac Contest is from season 4, Super Griffins & Good Ol' Boys is from season 3... Pat Lawlor watched every episode to prep for the game! :)

Oh, didn't realize that. Most of the quotes that stand out seem to be from the older seasons. I guess that makes sense when you start TV Modes and Tom says something witty.

"The South vows to rise again! The North vows not to give a shit!"
"Man finds extra ball...can't handle it!"

:)

I keep refreshing the page, but I don't see the Super Punch-out or Paperboy for sale yet...
