Trying to remember an arcade game - similar to Dig Dug

I'm trying to remember a game from my childhood - I'm pretty sure it was a coin up but my memory is so hazy maybe I'm thinking of an old C64 game... I'm not sure.

I always thought it was called Dig Dug... until I looked it up and found the real Dig Dug with all its bicycle pump craziness which I had never actually played so I'm thinking it might be a clone of sorts.

Anyway the game is very similar and of a similar generation. You still mine tunnels like Dig Dug only your character is a little truck instead of a man. My biggest all encompassing memory is that the theme music was terrifying. Some how they managed to get this eerie bass heavy dirge of dread out of whatever primitive sound card it was on punctuated with odd bleeps and warbles that scared the hell out of me. (This is why I don't think it was C64 because I didn't think it really had the audio grunt to pull this off... could even be Amiga I guess but I'm still holding out that it was coin op.)

Can anyone remember it? I've tried searching every title I could vaguely remember with no luck.

Boulderdash and the coin-op version, Rockford, use a humanoid character, not a truck.

Miner 2049 is more like Donkey Kong than Dig Dug.

Other games like Dig Dug include The Pit, Robby Roto, Gold Bug, and Mr. Do!, but they all use humanoid characters, or at least a smiley face. Gold Bug does have trucks at the bottom that fill up with dirt as you dig and a weird sound system. That would be my best guess so far.

Man that Gold Run is as bad of a Dig Dug clone as Logger is a DK clone...Century Electronics sure knew how to take a good game and make it horrible :D

Except I don't know that Gold Bug was influenced by Dig Dug or even if Dig Dug preceded it.

They were both preceded by The Pit and Robby Roto and more likely were independent rip-offs of them.

No luck with any of those... while Popcorn is pretty cool as far as bloopy electronic music goes it's nowhere near as creepy as what sticks in my memory.

The truck was like a little orange flatbed as far as I can remember...

Thanks for the effort! :)
