Back in 2007 I won and shipped (via NAVL) a Q-Bert Qubes upright on eBay (#130072504053) to a nice fella called Justin Collins in Henderson, Nevada, where it was due to be shipped to the UK with an expensive Dragons Lair cabinet, signed by Don Bluth and Gary Goldman.

Cutting a long story short the guy due to do the shipping died aged 35 (I know it sounds unfeasible!) and the guy holding the cabinets just sort of disappeared.

The eBay seller, mandyg24 was living with him I *believe*.

The Qubes is this one: http://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/gottlieb-qbert-qubes-very-rare-home-use-only

If anyone has any info on the whereabouts of either of these fine cabinets or indeed any means of contacting mandyg24 (who doesn't respond to eBay messages but gave me great feedback!) or Justin Collins please let me know. If a finders fee is required let's talk!!

He seemed like a decent guy and the fault is probably down to us two Brits but we just need to resolve a long running drama.

And we like long shots!

I did pay for the Qubes via Paypal and the other guy also paid for his Space Ace.

Here's the feedback on the Qubes:

FAST Payment. Great to deal with. True asset to the eBay community! Seller: mandyg24 ( 11) 16-Feb-07 17:49 Gottlieb Qbert Qubes. VERY RARE! Home Use Only! (#130072504053)

When the guy who was arranging the shipping died it was really awkward and couple that with Justin Collins suddenly disappearing it left us wondering what to do.

Jason did make contact with Justin Collins once who was in the process of moving to Las Vegas for work but said he would make the machines that were now crated together available for collection. Then nothing. (It costs the same to ship two machines to the UK on the crate as one btw)

The whole thing's a mess. To make it worse I was ripped off by a guy called Greatsouthern on a Qubes on eBay a year before!

I'm too trusting of people and just unlucky I guess :-{

Thanks for the response anyway. Not too sure how to proceed but our machines are out there somewhere and someone knows where even if they weren't aware of the circumstances...

I would think your best chance of getting the game would be to find a fellow KLOVer to check out the situation "on the ground" to confirm what happened. Nothing get's a situation like this resolved faster than someone showing up in person to check into it.

Hi JamBurglar - Don't know where he is is the problem but thanks anyway.

Zud - Just a long shot really. It was such a nice machine and it took so long with NAVL I couldn't get a credit card refund - basically lost $2100 on the Qubes and Finny lost $3500 on the Space Ace and it just seems unfair. Really we'd just like to know what happened to them. Someone's probably got them and didn't realise there was a backstory...

If anyone wants to mail me directly please use my name here in this forum at googlemail dot com.

Great responses guys!

Wholly Shit!!!...That Qubes is the one I purchased way back in June 2007.

I remember the Ebay auction like it was yesterday...I sent the seller an email telling him to contact me if the deal fell through because I missed end of auction.

He replied its sold and stated he would. Fast forward like 6 months..I get an email out of the blue that the game is still sitting and he hasn't been able to get in touch with buyer to ship...he tells me he's going to make several more attempt to contact owner and tell him if doesn't arrange pickup he's re listing or selling.

He gets back in touch at end of week and I basically pay him same amount the auction went for. I had NAVL ship the game. Turns out it wasn't quite as nice IMO as described but after dumping around 350 bucks into it I got it up to standards..

Truly sorry about the mess..but I purchased this on my end with no knowledge of him not paying you back and of course there is a lot of responsibility on your end with not having that shipped for over 6 months with no contact to him in regards to what was going on according to his end.

I can't say he was scamming as far as I could see as he was open about the situation pending with the game..and it seemed that all he wanted was the games shipped since he was moving and couldn't have them sitting there unclaimed....His name was Justin Collins and the ebay name was the same too as I contacted him at that user name through ebay initially.

Your more than welcome to PM about this and I'll forward you the details I have..but I did save all the emails from our conversations as it was an older email account that I sometimes use but not very often anymore...I never deleted anything from that account..I just went back and read all the back and forth emails we exchanged.

I actually went back and forth with him on trying to recoup the costs for the repairs I had to make and he flaked out on reimbursing me..I figured its the cost of doing business sometimes..never thought I'd have this stuff come up over four years later...

So my deal with him basically took place from June 2007 through August 2007 when we argued about the repair costs I thought I should be be reimburse for. The game arrived and monitor wasn't working and it had some other damage that wasn't described.

That is my end of it... Don't have any info on the other game..although I think in one email he mentioned it was still waiting to be shipped too...

No problem..Whatever info I have your welcome too..this is obviously something that you and the seller need to work out. Wish you would have posted on here several years ago..

Thanks for all your help guys and interest in this topic. It's half resolved so far - still the Space Ace to find then Justin Collins but just to get this tale up to date:

Regarding the guy he wouldn't reply on his Blackberry and "mandyg24", the individual I bought the machine off, wouldn't answer on Ebay Messenger.

What annoyed me was I didn't need to ship the machine to his place (I bought it but it was stored at the shipping company where he had an unpaid bill) and could have come directly to the UK from the shippers but they didn't want to be responsible for packaging for overseas shipping and Justin Collins said I should send it to him.

In fairness he did have a good reputation on the groups and Finny had his machine there as well so it didn't seem moody at the time.

A month or two later he confirmed it had arrived in Henderson, NV and then stopped replying to emails and calls (from both myself and Finny). He did say he was moving house and didn't want to move the machines but when our shipper tried to get in touch he ignored him as well - basically making arrangements and then pulling out. In the end he didn't even answer his phone.

Eventually it got to the stage where he bounced emails back yet my email address has always been the same plus he could have used Ebay. I've been a member since April 2002.

Jason Finn would ring him and it would go to voicemail, presumably because he could see it was an "International Call" on his Caller ID.

Then the guy organising the shipping for us died suddenly (Jason's mate John Higholt - the Wriggleys guy) and we'd lost touch with Justin Collins.

So for me I basically shipped a machine to someone on trust for him to sell it to someone else and Jason Finn's Space Ace was just sold we presume.

If anyone knows of the whereabouts of the Space Ace please get in touch!!

Thanks guys ;-}
