Ok, so I got this System80 game a couple of weeks back and have done a few things to get it to 100% working condition. It's almost there.

I have an odd (to me) sound problem with a slingshot type assembly on the game. There are two, one on the middle left of the pf and one on the middle right. The middle right one plays a sound when hit, while the other one just kicks the ball, but no sound. At first, I'm thinking maybe a missing sound in the game, but both slingshots use the same sounds, plus the right one doesn't just use one sound, it has a couple of different ones. I believe the sounds the slingshot should play are used on other parts of the playfield as well.

So, if it's not a missing sound from the board, what else would it be?

*See post further down for more information*

cpu board not telling the sound board to play sound for that action?

In the basic sense, I guess that's what it might be. I checked the wiring around that coil/switches and it looks good. I wish I had better schematics/information for this type of game to figure this kind of stuff out.

Yeah, I looked over it and it mainly concerns with missing sounds. If that was this issue, then other things on the playfield wouldn't sound because an entire line or group of sounds would be missing.

I did find that the game has 5 random upper playfield sounds it uses for the slingshots, bumpers, etc. so none of those 5 are sounding on this one slingshot. Yet, those sounds are working on everything else.

I think I have narrowed this down. Does this help?

I checked all the switches in the game, and this slingshot on the upper playfield I mentioned before and the one on the lower playfield don't play any sound when hit. I figured out that neither one play a sound, or register any points. If you hit the switch/switches, it fires the coil, but doesn't register point or sound-wise in the game.

It sounds like the MPU isn't "seeing" the hit so it's not telling the sound card to make a sound. The signal from the MPU to the sound card goes thru the solenoid board, then to the sound card.I have a similar prob with my Mars game.I'm leaning towards the connectors between all the boards.

This is an extremely frustrating issue. On the upper pf sling that doesn't score points/sound, it's chained (wire) to the other slingshot that does work 100%. I tested the connection between the two (good), and both of these seem to connect at the same pin to the board. How exactly they can be linked and only one works, IDK.

They are part of a "10-point" switch, number 43. All the other number 43 switches work.

This game has a Ni-Wumpf MPU BTW; there isn't anyway that it could have something to do with that?
