Hi,

I have a Dragon's Lair PCB that I erased all the eproms on and I am trying to burn them with a GQ-4X programmer. They all erased properly but they will not burn. There is no AM2764DC in the list of devices in the programmer software, but it has AM2764A which seems the same from what I could tell.

It gets to 2% and says it failed, but it does not change any bytes... the eprom is still blank. I erased the eproms with a Logical Devices T8Z for 15 mins.

I don't have an external power supply but I ran the voltage test in the program and it said all the voltages were working.

Any help would be appreciated.

You sure about the programming voltages?

According to my Max Loader software from eeTools:
AM2764DC = 21v
AM2764A = 12.75v

No, I wasn't sure about the voltages, but I found it listed as 13v when I did a search.

Thank you, I will try 21v.

That was definitely the issue. I set it to generic 2764 with 21vpp and it burned perfectly.

Thanks again!

AMD chips are a pain in the arse, you always need to check the markings on the chip and the settings the burner is using, I have met a few chips where the burner thinks it needs 21 and the chip says it needs 12v.

A versions program at a lower voltage, does not matter what manufacturer. If you try to burn an 'A' chip on the standard setting it may burn ok but either wont erase or wont reprogram once erased.
