Ok, picked up a Tron and upon first power up, it comes up(screen needs a capping, horizontal lines at the top me thinks) but I could coin up. The screen appears fine until you start playing it, the figures appear to be at diffrent places at once at the bottom of the screen, kind of a funhouse effect. Slightly garbled graphics, and when you get to the tanks, it soon locks up. I took apart the board(writing down everything) and reseated all the socketed chips, and put it back together. I noticed the ribbon cables are delaminating and not in good condition, I heard you can replace them with SCSI cables, any suggestions? I put the game back in the cab, and now all I get is a white screen, with maybe a few color bars at the top.

Did you get the video cable connected to the right board? Two of the boards in the stack have a connector that the video cable can fit on. Only one actually puts out any video. I do that just about every time I work on one of the MCR games.

Replacing those interconnect cables is a good start. Yes, the SCSI cables work fine.

My Tron used to do the very same thing. It would look good on the boot up and look to be normal but then it would act just like you described. So I ended up getting a new PCB and wanted a backup PCB anyway. If you figure out how to fix this issue then please let us know as I may be able to fix my 2nd Tron PCB.

Thanks!

I am almost positive I hooked it up correct. I will double check.

I looked at the ribbon cables, and they are shot, or most of them. I glanced online/eBay for some 24 pin cables, but all I can find is 50 pin or so, should still work, there would just be some unused pin sockets. Last night before I posted this, i noticed when i wiggle some of the ribbon cables, my screen would turn purple.

I replaced mine with Bob's MCR replacement cables. And a new video board (from Vintagegamer) all good now. At least once I got the white screen because my interconnects weren't plugged in correctly.
