So I have a TRON board set, that coins up, I can here it playing, when I fire it makes noise.

But the screen is all wacky nothing even resembling anything Tron. Just Colors with allot of black like the monitor setting is off.

I replaced all the ROMs with new ones, still the same.

Any ideas?

a pic would definitely help. are you getting a scrolling type of picture? or are the colors separating? one thing you may want to try is unplugging the grey insulated cable that runs from the middle board in the 3 board stack to the monitor (the video signal cable). see if it changes at all with that unplugged, or if you push/pull on the cable end.

Check that you got the video cable connected to the right board. There are two connectors that the cable can fit into. If you get the wrong one you get a colored screen.

you have multiple issues. first, there are some channels out on the sound side, and you're only getting half the sound. here's a video, you can hear the complete sound.

for that, i would first verify that all wires are in the connector on the sound cable running to the amp board on both ends. i've had a loose wire not making contact cause that. also, make sure the caps are all good on the sound board too, and nothing's blown.

as far as your video issue, you're getting double image and also having a sync problem. for the sync try adjusting the pots on the chassis and see if that gets any better, specifically horizontal pots..

regarding the double image, someone else needs to chime in. i'm not sure on this.

Check the audio amp board/wires. It does seem your getting only one channel of audio. Has the monitor been capped?

I'm kind of new to this so how would I check if it was hooked up as negative or positive?

The monitor has not been capped that I know of.

Maybe I am looking at wrong but it seems to have two connectors side by side.
From the manual a positive and a negative.

The MCR cables are hooked up right and are new.
The video cable is connected to the middle board just like it should be.
The screen is garbled and there seems to be some popping in the speaker.

Here is the video of my problem:

I just went through all the symptoms you're having this past weekend with my Tron. Researching old posts really helps. Thanks KLOV!!!

What monitor do you have? (K4900, G07, ???)

Tron is a negative composite sync game. Judging by your video, the HV negative 3 pin connector might need to be switched from one position to the other. Could you post a pic of both the 6 pin and 3 pin connectors hooked up in the monitor?

I swapped my K4900 monitor out and installed a G07. I had to swap the position of the horizontal and vertical syncs to stop scrolling.

For the sound, try disconnecting and than reconnecting the cables going to each speaker.

I was only getting certain sounds before I did that and everything worked after. Not sure where you're getting that popping sound from.

I hope that helps. Good luck!

your video cable is hooked up right.

now, looking at a spare 4900 chassis i have, you have the vert hold pot which is one of the 3 against the edge of the chassis, and then there's also the horiz. hold pot that's behind those right next to the video connector pins. you have tried both pots, right?

and also, do you have a monitor with the 3 pots side by side at the bottom (h center, vert size, vert hold) or do you have the one with the 4 pots? there are some with 4 pots at the bottom instead of 3. i have a 4 pot chassis but it's wedged in a game against the wall, so i don't remember what the fourth pot is, but have you tried adjusting that to see if it will change anything? (it may not, i forget what it adjusts)
