Tron video problems (intermittent)

I pulled the purple wire and the problem remains...

I even pulled the battery from the power supply and the problem remains....

Again, it is on an initial cold boot of the game. If I immediately cut the power and restart it seems to come up fine...

Any other ideas?

take your pick - cold solder joints on the power supply pcb. Bad and/or corroded connectors on the power supply pcb. Bad caps on the power supply and/or power brick.
Iow, most likely, your power supply needs rebuilding, or swapping to a switcher adapter (which i'm not crazy about, as they're noisy).

Ok, I had picked up a switcher from Arcadeshop and the adapter board. I'll try that for a while, see if it fixes the issue and if it is noisy. I can always pickup the repair kit from Bob Roberts to rebuild the board if it makes sense.

btw...I'm also thinking of trying Matt Osborne's idea of using the NVRAM instead of a battery, but it looks like I'll have to remove the battery from the adapter board for the switcher to make it work as well....I know, this is more of a side note...
