I fixed this Tron Unit I picked up for $500, was playing GREAT!!! Then out of nowhere the video goes all distorted. I have a MTG 2901CN monitor with a daughter board that is at the coin slot. I believe a Cap went bad, but is it the one at the daughter board or another at the monitor board?
Here is a video of it in action now...

and here is the daughter board..

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I work about 50 to 60 hrs a week, I am actually off this weekend, was planning on "Shotgunning" the caps with other caps, but hey, maybe someone here had the same problem and can cut the time down so I can get back to feeling my youth again.

Could be the video portion of the boardset and not the monitor at all. Could be a loose connector. Have you opened the back and inspected everything?

So none of the adjustments work? no change? Maybe a loose ground?

I could check the ground, is there a schematic for this monitor? Where would I find the ground at? and the best way to check it? I moved all the pots on the daughter board and it still glitches. The monitor appears to have been changed before me and instead of turning off when the power button on top back of the cabinet is turned off the monitor stays on, so I unplugged it from the receptacle from the PS and plugged it into a protected power strip (protects from lightning) so I can turn it off. I also noticed if I touch either control on the flyback, the monitor gets worse, but no matter what it does not get any better than this, so maybe the flyback? Maybe needs a new board? Can the flyback be changed? I know how to discharge and desolder\solder, where is a good place to get a replacement for the best price as well?

I hope you plugged that strip into the power source the monitor was plugged into. If not, the results may be very, very bad.

As far as I know, the MCR games don't work well with the MTG-2901 monitor - otherwise known as the Vision Pro. I'll bet it works just fine with non-MCR games, and a regular monitor (like a G07 or 4900) will work fine with Tron...

Why would it play flawlessly for so long? How much is a WG 4900 or a G07? Where can they be purchased at?

Like what kind of bad results?

Monitors, with rare, modern exceptions, have to get their power via the isolation transformer - that big block looking thing at the bottom of the cab. Plugging directly into a wall outlet will likely lead to many fried parts.

The MTG-2901 does not require an isolation transformer.

I think that model has a button on it for changing the sync sense. Look for a white button on the middle left not too far from the video connector. Just in case it got messed up...

How long is "so long"? I've tested an MCR board on my bench monitor and gotten it to show fine. Then a week later it won't...

Is it a pushbutton or a pot?
