I was using some of those ribbon cables with the extra hole and mismatched the 2 ends of one of the ribbon cables between these 2 points, Turned the game on, And saw smoke on these 2 wires on the ribbon cable and immediately turned it off. Im pretty upset. Just hoping I didn't kill the board completely.
Any thoughts? Am I fucked?

Yep. Scared the shit out of me but I had extra ribbon and it was fine when I tried again. I'll never make that mistake again!
I dont have an extra on hand so I have to wait a week to find out....which sucks. LOL
Ill report back. Hoping for a miracle.

Don't use those SCSI cables -- they suck for just the reason that you discovered.

There are some really good replacement cables that are single row and 24 pin that will prevent this from happening.

Madrits used to sell them and they are excellent. I don't remember who sells them now, just that there were 2 parties selling them. These are what you need. Some quick searching will point you to the right seller.
