Welll I finally got around to doing some work on my Tron. The bottom was literately falling apart and I was sacred to move it since it worked fine. There was also slight water damage. I completely removed the base and cut about 3/4 inch off all the way around the bottom to get rid of the slight swelling. I did not really spend much time on the base because it will not really be seen but I made sure it was sturdy as hell. I also didnt go how it was originally, the pics shows what I done. I will be adding leg levelers soon and standing it up and begin work on the sides. I am not going for total perfection. I am going to just make this game nice and presentable because when I got it , it was beat to shit. Also the paint in the last pics is not dry yet, I am doing satin black, and it looks gloss because its still wet

That's one helluva job Kenneth...very nice!

Tell me about it, I cut all this shit with a hand saw. I really cant work on it any more until I order my leg levelers next week because Ill damage the corners and bottom standing it up. Maybe since i have the pcb out we can install the free play and attract mode with sound

Why are you using a hand saw?
What is that white and green game back there?

Cause my wife sold my skill saw in a yard sale, she said I never used it and it was a pos. Im buying a new skill saw and jig saw soon.

The game is a stupid prize type game called Kick and Catch

Looks good so far. I have a Ms Pac that also has horrible damage to the bottom panel and I have to replace it. What sucks is it's hard to use the original dado cuts even if you can remove the old panel without damaging them. Did you add any kind of bondo or putty to any gaps between the new bottom and side panels? It kinda looks like you might have and that's what I'm looking at doing because of the missing wood on the bottom of my side panels.

Yes I did add bondo to all the cracks, look like crap on the bottom because I rushed it but like i said before its the bottom so no one will see it, I was mainly fixing the bottom so it would be sturdy and hold up again. Next weekend Ill be doing the sides and adding new side art. The sides will be fairly easy since it doesnt have any major damage

It's definitely a pain to try and work with the original dado cuts if you're just replacing the bottom. There's really no way to slide in a new rabbet cut piece into the dado grooves unless you try to maybe knock the lower back panel off then I guess it could slide in. For me, the collateral damage in removing the bottom made it pretty much a given I wouldn't be able to use their dado cuts.

I know how you feel with that damage. My Tron's bottom was so bad that it broke apart when I went to move it from the arcade it was at. I went with a real quick and dirty route with some wood blocking on the inside to reinforce and hold on a new bottom. What I've seen you and others do really makes me want to take mine apart and do it right. My repair was supposed to be a temporary job until a better cab came along, but now I see what can be done if you put your mind to it.
