Tron sells on Ebay for $2,250 BIN with NO Description!

http://cgi.ebay.com/TRON-Stand-UP-A...ideo-Game-/150386012592?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0

Was doing a "completed search" to look for the custom Tron-inspired motorcycle that was being offered recently for around $35,000 and ran across this. People on here are fussing that in this economy people "shouldn't" be able to get more than $2,000 for a dedicated Major Havoc machine, and then this happens...

What blows me away is that someone closed the auction with "buy it now" for the full asking price, plus shipping, without even stating that the game was even working, much less what it was like cosmetically. If you own a Tron that you would like to sell, I reccomend that you put it on Ebay with a high "buy-it-now". Who knows, you might get what you are asking. ...Especially if it is in decent shape and you are willing to take the time to actually tell people about what they are buying...

lol and I put mine (working) on here for $550 and no one wanted it.

Don't you know that if you list on KLOV and want to sell it must be cheap. Now if your looking to rip someone off then eBay all the way ;)

Really though yours seems to be priced well, IMO.

Well, using BIN and actually buying the game are 2 different things.I'm not going to waste my time to actually look it up,but I'd be surprised if the person actually paid....like that guy who was selling that sealed Stadium Events cartridge that went for $40k in which the buyer was a deadbeat.Or some MIP Star Trek figure that I saw selling for 1 million dollars several years ago.I'm REAL sure that the buyer actually paid for that one.

I don't know if the buyer followed through on this particular auction or not...but I can say from experience that certain vids or pinballs can skyrocket in popularity due to a spike in interest..
Ex..When the last Rocky movie was first rumored to be in production...My Rocky pin skyrocketed..i had people emailing to purchase everyday....I ended up selling one since I had two...for over 5000.00 for a pin that was priced in most buyers guides for years at around 500-700 tops..even though the production numbers have always been low..:D

So my advice is timing is everything..no guarantee of profit..but you do get a larger selection of collectors not always the so-called gamers who will pay more for a item strictly because its related to a movie or star at the time...

Um, we have evidence that someone will pay $1900+shipping for a Tron sight-unseen.

I tried to make this exact point in that thread and I was called (via PM) an ass-kisser of the seller's.

I would love a StarWars CP with 25" amp, but no way would I pay more than $X (where X << $1500). Its a game to me, but the market shows that I'll never own one because there ARE people that will pay those prices. Is it worth > $2500? Yes, to some of you, probably many of you, but not me.

I wouldn't give anyone more than a few hundred dollars for a MH, unless I had someone to flip it to. That doesn't mean its not worth it to others.

The question is, if 3 people put up restored Trons for ~$2K BIN, do all 3 sell, do any of them sell?

1 data point does not a trend make - that goes both ways (me as a buyer vs. a seller getting > $2K bin for a tron)

I think the more important piece of news will be that next March/April will be the time to BUY a Tron, once the movie hype is gone, and lots of fanboys are stuck with a machine they have no idea how to work on.

It's pretty much like fishing, you go at the right time of the day and you'll catch a prized fish and fish at the wrong time you get shit. You sell at the right time you might hook that high paying buyer out there but it's hit or miss. Good example is the whole Michael Jackson hype, bet those people are sorry they payed all that money for a Moon Walker game now.

one is on or was on ebay.co.uk here in uk for just short of £2000,go convert that to usd.in a country where these things are not considered to be rare as every state has people who either own, sell or are giving them away for free its no wander that people offer tron for $500,so translate that to ukgbp (£'s).

you be lucky to find tron on ebay or even craigslist,in fact look at craigslist for uk for arcade machines and see what you can find, you will find nadda!

i know someone sold a working tron that needed a lot of work on it but,it was not in too bad a condition for about £400 perhaps a little more on a english arcade forum but, these things are rare here.i remember my local nightclub when i was a teenager and used to go out at weekend had a tron machine downstairs in the nightclub bit,pub upstairs and nightclub downstairs.tron machine right next to the dance floor.

that would be considered to be worth the asking price if it was in pretty good nick, like restored condition here in the uk.

in fact for some of us here if we wanted a particular machine say like a galaga we would be beter to buy from usa on ebay.com and have it imported, impoirtation is about £600 and say £300 for the working cab makes £900.well you couldnt find a galaga can never mind one in working good condition for £900.

incidently i would like a galaga and would be willing to do exactly what i just posted, import but,not at this moment as i have too many projects and no space till i get them running and out of way.
:)

Tron

Now the seller has to find one and restore it to deliver it to the buyer.....? Might be a new trend in Ebay selling. Post something you dont have for a little higher than market price. List several days for handeling time. If it sells, Buy one and get it ready to go then. With no description in the ad, it made me wonder.

Thats crazy,on top of that only having one pic and from the side no less. I'm sorry but reading (Cabinets are in overall very good condition and the games all play well. ) in the description is not gonna sell me on buying anything without multiple pics.
