Hi all.....My tron was working great until the other night. Now...I have no play screen at all-its black. It appears that i have no power to the gameboard at all ! Could it be the power supply board that went out? Everthing else lights up just fine.Should i upgrade the power supply board anyway? Thanks in advance,,Loren

Also...Their IS power going to the monitor ..Mild amber glow lit at the base...The light does not light up on the gameboard at all...

I don't know anything about these, but if what I'm understanding here is that you have power to your monitor and the lights, and nothing going to the game board, then that means something's wrong with your power supply board. (all the other items run off 120VAC)

check all your cable connections, I think that's a common problem with these. check fuses too.

maybe some MCR masters will chime in, might just be your PS board needs a rebuild or something. I don't know common failure spots on those, I've never messed with linear PS's before. :)

Check the fuses. Check for voltage coming from the power board. Check the connector from the PS to the boardset. Check for voltage going to the power supply.

That should keep you busy for a few minutes... and hopefully you'll find the problem.

Great ! I will replace it then with a new upgrade power supply board from arcade shop i suppose. I will try that!! Thanks!!

he said to check the one you got :0

always make sure you got power going in, if there's power going in, then you see why it isn't going out. this is caused by a blown fuse, or a bad connection. if the fuse and connection are good, then your power supply board has some other kind of issue with it.

I don't suppose these things go from working to not working, probably a fuse, but you also have to consider the age, it's almost 30 years old.

I'm under the impression that these are easy to FIX, but finding out the actual cause will take some time.

Thanks Mecha ! I replaced all of the fuses just in case and checked most all of the connections and it still didnt come on...I dont have any meters or troubleshooting items so im going of your advice...Thanks !!

Fixed mine with a bob roberts kit. It replaces the common failure components. It takes a little effort, especially replacing the connector pins. Then of course you will need to replace the two big caps and possibly bridge rectifier. In the mean time a switcher is a good bet, and helpful later when you decide to fix the old beast ps for comparison measurements.
P.s. before hooking up a switcher I would suggest buying yourself a multimeter so you can adjust the switcher voltage properly. Its a must have for arcade owners
