Hi all,

According to my Thinkgeek Demotivators calendar entry for July 9th:

Theatrical release of TRON.

Always remember arcade culture.
Always.
(1982)

I had a great pic of a TRON machine at the '82 premiere on my old website. I don't have the means to locate it currently but if I remember to do so tonight I'll post it.

I don't have a TRON arcade game (one day Discs of TRON will be mine) so TRON > TRON: Uprising > TRON Legacy marathon for me. :D

we speak your name TRON!!

i will mos def throw a quarter in the ol' tron tonight and play a game. 30 years of complete game grid bliss >>>

wonder what tron will be 30 years from now??

For some reason, I always think TRON came out in March 1982 - which never makes sense in the whole "insert grid bug animation randomly into a scene to tie into the arcade game" bit.

Is David staring at Cindy or the game? Maybe that annoying 'Attendants do not carry tokens' sticker.

I met Cindy many years ago and she was pleasant at the time, but it wasn't until this past year that I met Bruce. I was able to speak with him for at least 10 to 15 minutes at a convention and he was a riot. It really was a pleasure speaking with him...

I didn't watch Tron until the late 90's, but upon seeing it I'll admit that I became obsessed on some level and starting collecting via eBay, shows, and forums. To this day I still have hundreds of distinct Tron items (seriously ). I should have cataloged everything and started selling stuff when Legacy came out as I simply have too much of it, but that ship has since sailed. I still love the franchise, but the reality is I no longer have the space to dedicate an entire room to vintage Tron merchandise, let alone all the duplicates, triplicates, etc. ;)

If nothing else, you should share the collection over here :)

I thought that the movie was a bit silly, getting scanned into a early 1980s computer... We all know how shitty computers were back then. I was 7 at the time and thought this.

Still once you get past that the movie was decent, certainly better than SMB.

I've still never seen the movie. Love the game but for some reason I never saw the movie. (Bag over head)

Maybe today will be the day.
