So I was watching Tron today, and I've noticed it before, but has anyone else ever noticed that really rad looking Recognizer lamp in Flynn's apartment? It's shown only briefly on the end table just to Cindy Morgan's left, and never in a full on shot. Has anyone ever seen any of these come up at all on eBay or something, or has anyone ever considered having one made? That would be a hell of a piece to add to the ol' game room!

Is that real neon or etched plexi lit from the side?
Hard to tell in the pic.

If you mean the movie pic, in the couple shots I've seen it in, it looks like red neon with a transformer base. Pr0k's lightcycle and recognizer toppers are laser etched acrylic that seem to be UV reactive.

Whipped this up in Photoshop. Just for hell of it, I know of a couple NEON shops that may or may not take this on, and maybe I could see what something like this would run. I saw those Pac-Man & Ghosts neon lamps on eBay awhile back, but you gotta buy them from China. Something about real Neon just looks really cool in a game room.

Could be done easy enough. With pattern and neon it would probably run you around 300 bucks.

I posted about that a while back. I think it would be a very cool gameroom piece. Here's the pic I used in that old post.

If I were going to the trouble and expense of commissioning a neon sign I think I would have the big one made that moves in the game room. Something like 3 of the tanks. Anyone have pics they can post. Its hanging on the wall as soon as they go into flynn's arcade.

I think I know what you're talking about. I don't have a screen shot at the moment, but is it that one with the GIANT recognizer neon sign on the wall of Flynn's arcade that animates like it's coming toward you? Something like that would cost a FORTUNE, I'm sure. I have a couple request out for some quotes for say, maybe a 18"x20" red neon sign (non-animated) with the design I did in Photoshop based off of the one seen in the screen shot that me and RM posted. More to come......

Well, this is doable I suppose, and not nearly as expensive as I thought:) I did get three quotes back today. I guess the neon production market is kind of competitive these days! These prices are based on the lowest quote I received and is for a HUGE 18"x20" sign, in red neon :

$235 if I order 5
$200 if I order 10
$180 if I order 25

I'm told that they unfortunately, will not come on a base like the one seen in the movie screenshots, but the signs will come with all the hanging hardware needed to hang the
signs. Signs are made with all U.L. parts and they will come with a two year warranty as well.

I dunno, it would be cool to have one of these for the game room though, and maybe I can get these made if there are enough interested people. If there are, maybe I can start an interest list on the FS area of the forum:)

I'm sure this would cost considerably more, but this is the other Recognizer light that I think many remember from the movie. If I were to get it quoted, the smallest portion of the lamp would be 18"x20" and the largest it would animate to would be 36"x40". I was told by the person providing the initial quote, that they can't really squish that much neon tubing into a sign smaller than 18"x20" given the design of the art, which is why the static one I posted prices for is 18"x20".

Ahahahahahahahahahahaha at this thread. Looks like Black Matrix planted the seed initially. This is all Randy Moss' fault.
