I have seen a few restorations on the web and I am in the middle of restoring mine.

A couple of the posts have mentioned a "white black light" for the lower light fixture, and I am wondering whether they meant a regular balck light bulb rather than that of a white bulb to make the plexi graphics stand out.

I did not know if there was such a thing as "white black light"

Please let me know.

Thank you.

Yes there is a white black light that goes in the lower light assy down near your waist. There is a regular black light in the assy just in front of the joystick.

Guys here have the part # for the white black light memorized, and will probably post it.

I took that one out of my game because the UV of a white black light is really bad, and that light is right of the eye line of my kids at present. So, I pulled it and put a regular black light in its place.

Thank you for the reply. I will probably do the same

My little ones are about the right height, so I will do the same.

I would like to know where to get some of the bulbs though.

Thanks again.

There is a "black" black light you need - F15T8-BLB.

There is a "white" black light you need - F15T8-BL.

There are two regular cool-white bulbs you need - F15T8-CW.

And all starters are FS-2....

i have to ask - is the difference in the lower light really noticable between the white black light and a regular tube? i can't see what it would really light up, as it's just lighting that lower piece from the inside.

The top piece is see-thru so the dark light is there to protect your eyes as well as make the reactive coloring glow. The bottom pieces is NOT see-thru so I assume the white blacklight was to make it brighter....

Wow. Thanks for the fast info. Bulbs are ordered and on the way.

Thanks again to those who replied. Got a few of each to have spares.

Can't wait until the Tron is done......

This week: sanding/filling in holes/ prime and paint.

When I post a link to anything... always double check... I link the first things I come across most of the time to give people a place to start.

As for the bottom plexi, the white tube is supposed to make it brighter. Sadly, after all these years, unless you have repros down there, it'll light the whole thing up... black area and all. A standard black light sometimes looks best down there when it's lit up (according to tastes). My machine has the white tubes, another machine at the other arcade has a black tube... it could possibly look better, but I like mine because I know that's the bulb that's supposed to be there.

Whatever you do, if you're doing a full restore, make sure you spend the money and get the repro plastic light housings from Phoenix Arcade. They're expensive, but SOOOO worth it. Using a white black light without them will really wash is out because the white black light is really bright, and without fully colored plastics, it will be washed out.

I'm confused.. you mention that the White black light needed is F15t8-bl, but the link above goes to a F8t5-bl...

So is this one correct? Just want to make sure before I order..

Thanks for clarifying.. Believe me, I've bought my fair share of wrong parts (and bulbs) so much that I triple check everything :) When I first got my DK, I immediately ordered 2 replacement bulbs and starters (kind of expensive since they are unique), and when they got here I pulled the marquee off only to find that a previous owner had changed the whole lighting assembly out with a common one.. tough lesson to learn, lol

I'll be putting my order in today for a few bulbs, I just got my tron up and running thanks to a forum member and I'll share that in a post later...

YMMV, but on my Tron the white tube BL bulbs only lasted a little over a year... so, keep that in mind when ordering. Also, there are SEVERAL other machines (I found) that use those bulbs... if you're looking to expand your collection to include (at least) Space Invaders and Battle Zone (I'm sure there are several more)... might want to order more bulbs. I wish I had.
