Is there someone on KLOV who repairs these. I saw bob roberts has a kit. I just don't solder well enough.

everyone solders well enough. Order the kit, get a new tip for your soldering iron. And do it!!!
you can do it. :)

well I would think anyone here could install the kit for you.
Problem is, shipping 2 ways/price of the kit/ and maybe $20 for some
guys time.

I am really bad at soldering. Think 5 year old with a soldering gun.:001_sbiggrin:

i was the same when i first started, now it's easy to do micro sized soldering on boards. the best thing i can recommend is to get some solder wick and just practice on a dead board or monitor chassis. desolder stuff and resolder. learn how long to leave your soldering gun tip on a trace /joint before it gets too hot and lifts.

And after paying for all of that, you could just buy a switcher and adapter...but the purists don't like that much ;)

and those that don't enjoy obnoxious humming out of their MCR games. :)

MCR + switcher is not a good combination although it's much worse for some MCR games than others.

about 3 mos after i rebuilt my ps it krsapped out again.

i now rin as arcasdeshop mcr adapter and a heavy duty happ power supply. I hasve not looked back :D

honestly, that would be my reccomendation. By all means keep the old ps to keep the game complete but really id run the adapter and a modern switcher.

The hum is barely noticeable in mine, and I can't even hear it with all of my games on. In my Discs of Tron, there's absolutely zero hum.

Yeah, I think Spy Hunter is the worst and it's typically pretty bad on that game. Some people have issues on other MCR games too....

mine(tron) does not hum at all

I think most of the hum issues are caused by bad shield ground at the audio wires going out of the pcb to the amp.. mine had a wicked hum and i fixed it by repauring that broken shield ground.
