Tron pin pealing clearcoat under apron?

They basically chalked it up to normal wear and tear, but I'm having other issues that they are supposedly going to either replace my PF, or the whole machine (still waiting to hear if they have a populated PF or not). More details to come, but you get the basic idea from the pics:

If they don't replace it, I'm going to try to get a refund through Best Buy. I love the game, but not if it's falling apart after 350 games. Even if it does get fixed, I'll still probably unload it when the next Tron movie comes out. I'm not looking to make any $ off of movie hype, but I'd prefer not to loose my @$$ when I do unload it...

Man that sucks. I could live with issues like you are having, when the game is 10-15 years old and was on route, but not 350 games on a NIB pin. I hope they handle this situation to your likings, or as close as possible.

Their original solution was to send me some washers and a sheet of mylar. That is where I lost it...

Yeah, that's bullshit. Sterns should NOT wear from normal play, PERIOD. I have an Elvis that had 40,000 plays on it. After cleaning it, the playfield is PERFECT. I've had a ton of other Sterns and have never seen this type of damage...and that's with 1000's of plays. You got a shitty, defective playfield, plain and simple. If they don't replace it with a quality one, demand a refund.

I recently checked the audits of my TSPP. Bought new nearly 7 years ago. Get ready for it. 6800 plays!!! The ONLY issue on my PF is small amount of wear in the shooter lane from where the ball slams in there. That's it. Don't accept anything less than a new populated PF. They will run TRON again, so don't let them give you any excuses about "finding" one. Bull.

Wow, you just keep finding stuff wrong with that pf.
The only other thing I noticed on my LE is behind one of the drop targets. The black outline that is layed on the pf border is worn off and looks smudged. Now I don't know if it was from playing it and it is ball wear, but I put a piece of mylar over it to prevent further wear. Not a big deal to me.
I also heard that on the LEs there was no clear put in the shooter lane. Some people think the PFs were made and cleared but they were not routed out for the shooter lane. They sent them to get routed but never cleared them again. At least that is the theory. I put some fake mylar in my shooter lane and it looks so good you would swear it was clear coated.

I am hoping that with all the mistakes on Tron going out the door, Stern will step up on Transformers. The one I got to play and took that video of was SN #001 and I didn't see any issues with the PF or Cabinet Decals.

I got a call from Stern long after their normal business hours (almost 8PM their time), and they are shipping a populated PF to a tech in Denver, who will install it for me. Honestly I'd rather do it myself, but at least this way if something else is wrong, they can't blame me.

I'm just hoping they let me keep the old PF, but they SHOULD want it back for testing to see WTF is wrong with it.

That is good news. I would help the tech do the install as much as possible. I think swapping out PFs is a 2 person job anyway.
Before the Tech leaves, run all sort of diag tests. Make sure you do an individual lamp test, coil test, ect. Make sure you look at the active switches (take a pic of yours now) and compare it to after they install the new pf.

Good ideas, thanks!

Normally when I get a NIB game before I even play it, I go over it and hit every switch and opto I can find to make sure they are working when the pin is in switch test mode.
I didn't do this when I got my SM and about a month or two later I finally got around to doing it. I found the opto in front of the Sandman wasn't working. The wire coming off the opto board was cut from the factory and I had to solder it back together.
Just make sure you go through everything possible while the tech is there. IF something isn't right, you will have the other PF there to pull parts off if needed.

Keep us updated when you get the PF swapped out.

Update, the tech just left, and my new playfield is awesome. Already gave it a coat of wax, installed 1.7 finally, and I'm loving this game again.
