I just received my Tron art package from phoenixarcade.

I was wondering which material did you use to affix the translite to the metal bar which it hangs from?

umm.. i think mines staplled on to the cab. Id have to pull it apart to recheck.

if it does truly hang form a metal bar id assume youd want to epoxy it versus regular glue as epoxy is alot stronger..

Mines original as I haven't needed mine replaced. It looks like the top is clamped by the metal bracket. There is what looks like a little bit of fold over but I can't be 100% sure.

The bottom is definitely stapled to the wood with 3 staples and then the remaing few inches just hang straight down.

It doesn't fold over. Make sure you reinforce with tape where you screw and staple it in. That will keep it from cracking.

I dismantle the old translite today. It was held to the metal bar with two sided tape and the bottom simply was bent/folded to sit over the monitor plexi glass.

Anybody have a pic of the way the bottom should sit?

Here is a pic of the translite the way Midway installed it. As you can see it just hangs down, with staples into the wood that supports the monitor.

Here is another shot for you also. Hope it helps. Mine was on with some sort of double sided tape also. I just removed the old adhesive, cleaned up the metal bar and put the tape down. I just replicated the staple holes in the new one. Good idea from JediDentist to reinforce with some tape.

If you don't want to use tape or adhesive to hold it to the metal bar, could you use some small rare Earth magnets on either side of the translite to hold it to the metal instead? These magnets are strong! I got some at Harbor Freight tools. Maybe put some felt, small piece of cloth, or rubber washer between the magnet and translite too.

The magnets are are nice idea.

In the pic, is the bottom of the translite tucked in the bar I have highlighted? I was wondering what that bar is for.

BTW - Jeeps Rule!

As I recall....It was when I picked it up. This makes it curve though. I did not do that on my new Trans. It's on the outside of that and not tucked in. I kept it flat. Looks way nice installed. The bar could be part of the light unit for the trans? Mine was missing when I picked mine up. I put a new one in. Mounted it to the wood across the top by the upper translite attachment.

Jeeps are a lot fun! 1993 Wrangler, tons of mods. She's a tough old beast.

You could, if you want to risk screwing up your monitor. You do not want to have magnets anywhere near your monitor. Grab a small one off your fridge and put it up by one of your games and watch the pretty colors.
