I've been on the Tron kick (after blacklighting the room, think a Tron or DOT would look good).

Have a few leads on a DOT, and i adore that game. Before i pull the trigger - i have been giving Tron a look.

Although i grew up in arcades back in the 80's i never played Tron strangely enough. I remember it being at a Hotel arcade when i was 8 or so, but for some reason i turned my nose up at it - i recall the exact moment (very strange i remember that!). Now DOT i remember well - and the game holds up to this day.

So - what is your take on Tron? What about your take on a vs. DOT? I have been playing it on Xbox lately and find its not such a bad game....My kids (6 / 4 mostly) like Tron hands down over DOT - i can understand why because Tron offers a little more variety.

Yes, it would be cool to fit them both :) but i would need rearrange everything which i am not willing to do. Thanks!

Gameplay wise, I prefer Discs of Tron over Tron, though I think both are good games.

But, both have awesome cabinets that would look great in any gameroom equipped with a blacklight setup.

If I could only have one, though, it would be Discs of Tron.

I think they are both great games, but I find that I play the Tron more. I think Tron is easier picked up by non-enthusiasts too. Both cabs have different types of wow factor, but I'd say regular Tron stands out more. If you had to get ONE, I'd say Tron, but I definitely recommend getting both.

I love and own both, and while Tron is a fun game to me, DOT blows it away IMO.. I could live w/o a Tron in my collection if I had to (IE space issues), but I would never get rid of my DOT.

Most people I know that have a DOT in their collection say they'll never sell it unless they find a nicer one.. but I know several that have moved Tron's out of their collection and don't miss it.

As of now, I have both and I'm glad I do! And they look great sitting next to each other :)

DOT would go before Tron in my arcade...but that's because of the nostalgia factor. I always used to play it. I can see why people like DOT more, but it just doesn't have the same wow factor for me. That being said, since you didn't play it much as a kid...and even passed it over as a kid...then I guess I would go for the DOT. However, I think Tron has the better cab.

Thanks guys - enjoy reading others take on these things. Keep em flowing please.

Even the cab designs it would be hard to choose - while i think the Tron cab looks slightly better than DOT (by alot perhaps), DOT has that landscape 3d thing going on. Bally definitely did a great job on the aesthetics thats for sure. Thankfully they both have the same joystick!

I think the thing that threw me for a loop was my kids reaction to both games - their like of Tron. i can see how the younger crowd would like the Tron better. DOT feels more of an "adult" or mature friendly game between the two.

It was hard for me to sell my DOT and I miss it to this day.I've sold three Trons and wouldn't think twice about selling the next one I find.Tron is a better looking game but I'm not a big fan of the game play.

Well, I think it would be cool to get both... I posted in the WTB for a Tron (restored / nice please - willing to pay for the right one). If anyone has any leads, please let me know.

I will still pursue DOT, and just make it work space wise.

To me they're a pair. If I were you I'd get the DOT first if you have one available, then set future sights on a Tron. As for which is best: Cabinet = Tron; gameplay = DOT.

You need to give both a solid run through gameplay wise, then decide. They're both cool "looking" cabs, but the gameplay can be "enh" to those people not on a Tron-boner. I'm in the "enh" camp.

DOT - favorite since i was a kid. In fact, when i started collecting vids, first thing i looked for was a DOT (Besides SW).

Saw a few since then, not sure why i never made a move for one until now. Sometimes you just wake up and it hits you - really does.

Times like this wish i had more space. Even with my last note about looking for a tron, after doing some sketchups, i realize i shouldnt do it - guess i will have to 'settle' for one. Back to a DOT... have a few great leads, so i will stick with that.

I agree they both look great as a pair you can't go wrong with the black light effect and artwork. Together in a gameroom they both stand out even if you don't care for the gameplay. love to have a EDOT or DOT someday my Tron is lonely.
