I have a NOS lower control plastic for a Tron. I picked it up before they were repro'd, it still has the protective film on it. Anyone have an idea of the value for this? I'm trying to decide if I want to use it or use one of the repro's and hang onto it or sell it.
Any thoughts?

someone more with more knowledge than me will chime in I'm sure.

Once it's repo'd NOS value goes down (in my opinion)
example:
people were charging (and getting) $200+ for NOS satans hollow and tron joysticks, once they got repoduced (for $25) that went away.

again my opinion, whatever phoenixarcade is charging is what it's worth. maybe slightly more.

you find the right guy it could be worth quite a bit I suppose.

Ya, I expect it's worth a lot less than I paid for it a few years ago. I'm sure the NOS is worth more than a repro to some. When I picked it up it was the only option for a nice one, I'm finally getting ready to restore my cab.
If anyone has a good idea what the NOS part is worth let me know.

Jerry

If you had both the top and bottom plastics it would probably be worth more.
Most of the time you need to replace both, if your going to replace only one, the other one is going to look that much worse.

Phoenix sells the set for $180. So I would start there, Why spend that much on one NOS when you can have two repros.

The lower repo by itself sells for $95.

So I would guess its worth $100-$125.

Now if someone has an NOS upper they have been hanging on to. They would probably pay more.

Just my opinion.

If it's in perfect shape I would think you would be able to get around $125-$150 Only thing is it might be tough to prove it's NOS, I mean there is no difference from the repro that you can see right???

If the difference is only $50 I'll just use. I assume there is some small detail that makes it unique from a repro. The colors are probably a little different, something you could probably tell if they are side by side. Since it's still got the original protective wrapping I'm sure that's different than the copies, I don't remember if it had a unique p/n or copy right # on it.
I'd expect the repro's to have inks that hold up to UV better though, 25+ years of technology has to be good for something.

You could always put it on ebay at $249.99 as a starting bid, 10 day auction and see if anyone bites. Now would be the time :) Otherwise than yes I'd say keep it, not many can say they have a NOS plastic.

I say use it. It's the original, and it's new! Don't you want to be the first to use it? Repros will be around for a while. So if you used it and decided to sell it later, maybe you could at least get close to repro price. If you don't need the money, don't sell it unless you get a good offer/price for it.
