tron movie/game

Sucks..

I like the game, its not my favorite, but the cabinet rocks!

The new movie is going to be awesome! Can't wait...

Has anyone heard about an arcade game being released when the new movie comes out?? I am sure the are NOT planning to release one...but that would be cool...

True

movie- weak but for 80s technology its alright..

game cabinet- badass

gameplay- weak but for 80s technology its alright ...

I think that sums it up for most folks...

Love the movie, love the game. Haven't played DOT that much but it still rocks.

I like both a lot. I showed the movie to my kids and they were like meh. WTF! Those special effects are state of the art! Stupid kids spoiled on Transformers CGI.

Movie: I think the script needed more work before they made the movie. Overall it was a noble effort considering the time it was made but it could have been a much better film.

Game: The cabinet was excellent, probably the best of all time, but the gameplay was just okay. The MCP was the weakest game, followed by the Spiders, and the cycles and tanks were about even.

Tron was the only arcade game I owned for a very long time, probably 5-6 years.

Like them both considering the time the came out. I really hope a new Arcade gets released or even better a pin. If it's any good there will be a new one in my basement :)

A pin would be awesome... black light and EL tape all up and down the playfield... ... I can see it now.

They could do some wicked LED or fiber optic lighting to look like Tron if they think outside the box for a change. Problem is we are talking about Stern.

what's your feelings about the movie compared to how you feel about the game?

barely remember the movie, love the game.

A lot of people knock the game, but I say those people just suck at playing it because once you get up the 4th level and beyond it is a serious challenge. :)

Yeah... but I do like their Soprano's pin. We have one at the arcade, and it's amazingly fun. They did an awesome job with it... there's a little flair on the playfield... so maybe they're coming out of their shells a little?

Sorry, I don't need a poll dancer on my pin. ;) Wait, maybe I do... They had one at the Main Event here and it was Ok... I might have liked it better if it was maintained... Hard to know the ruleset with so many lights burned out. Of course I didn't watch the show, so had no attachment to the theme.

I love the movie. How can you not? It had the best arcade scenes of ANY movie:

I have the game, but as it is not yet restored I haven't even played it.

Movie = rushed and iffy, but still a great concept and fun.
Game = Okay. The light cycles is awesome unto itself. It was also rushed unfortunately
Game Cabinet = Pure awesomeness. I want a Tron just because of the totally awesome cabinet.

Speaking of pics of people playing video games, the new Guns n Roses book by Mark Canter has a really cool pic of Slash playing arcade games in the studio during the recording of AFD.
