First of all, I am not a seasoned hobbyist in arcade game restorations. In comparsion to many projects listed here, mine is more of a update instead of a showcase of what I have done.

A couple of months back, I was lucky enough to take a somewhat gutted Tron mini off a fellow Klover's hand (Thanks Pookdolie ;)). It was in need of some work.

Here are some before pics

There were some significant flakings on the bezel. I used black tape to seal off the edges of where the flakings were and I think the result came out pretty good (for now). There is a vector file online somewhere from another member who scanned the mini bezel to reproduce, but I decided to stick with the original.

There was a lot of latex paint overspray all over the front and the sides of the cab. I used Citrustrip to clean up the cab (definitely not fun). I was too lazy to sort out the metal parts, so I took off all the metal pieces and have them powdercoated.

Replaced the CPO with a new one from Arcadeshop.

Thank goodness that all the wiring harnesses are intact and working, and so I added a working PCB, dual amp board, and a power supply board to get it up and running. Replaced new T-molding, new buttons, new spinner decal, a new pair of Tron handles, a new topper, and much more misc parts later...... :)

I don't have a good feeling about the tape on the bezel. I don't think it will hold up over time, but if there's a repro available it looks like it's a nice quick fix. Everything else looks great! Enjoy your Tron!

This one has come a long way, folks. Excellent job, man!

I hadn't verified the condition of the harness or the monitor when I gave it to you - very cool that both ended up being functional. That image looks quite good.

Thanks fellows. Yeah, I am lucked out that the harness is there, and the monitor is working. If anything else was missing or not working, it would have added much more on several hundreds that I have already put in it. I am glad it turns out pretty good, and I learned a lot through out the whole process.

I'm learning this the longer I'm in the hobby as well. It's sort of like looking at used cars - are the expensive parts working? Are they ready to die? Are they even there? And so forth.

You took a really dingy machine and made it look nice, though.

Thank you, sir.

Much appreciated. It wouldn't have happened without your generosity at the 1st place. By the way, was the monitor bubble came a member here who is doing a repo of them?

As said by everyone here, great job! :beerchug:

And just an fyi... I started using packing tape 15 years ago on flaking glass and some of my earliest pieces look the same as they did back then. Not sure how long it will take the tape to break down being in a climate controlled environment(unlike an attic or a barn), but at least I can move these pieces around now without have to worry about more paint coming off.

Very nice indeed! I absolutely love that machine! any chance of you getting some measurements for me of the the cab itself?
