TRON making an irritating static noise during attract mode

I have noticed that my TRON makes a rhythmical noise that sounds similar to scratching your fingernails on a piece of cardboard. Thats the best way I can describe it. The noise pattern seems to change/interact with whatever is happening on the screen, ie, during the "Tanks" portion of the attract mode, the sound pattern is always the same.

What would cause this interference? Do all TRONs do this? And most of all, how do I fix this? Its quite irritating.

It sounds to me like a ground wire came loose for the main board or the monitor. Look for and feel for pinched/broken ground wire. The outer coating will hide a broken wire, but if you feel the wire you can feel the break. I don't think this is the usual suspects, caps. Check for wires that can get pinched in the coin door. Also the volume pot,if inside the coin door can pickup noise.
