First real restoration. Started with a good cab and working PCB set. (Should have taken pictures but didn't)

Complete restoration including a tube swap and a cap kit (both firsts for me)

Got everything back together and plugged it in and, amazingly, it actually worked. Nothing sparked, smoked, or exploded. So far so good. Almost.

Gotta adjust the yoke as the colors are goofy and picture is crooked. Any advice would be great.

For some reason, the joystick is out. Control goes full right and has no up/down/left at all (trigger works, and spinner works) (Worked up until I turned it on last night)

Some sort of short in the coin door harness/connector. Racks up credits when you touch it.

Any help would be appreciated. Gonna start trouble shooting this weekend.

Always good to see another TRON up on the game grid!

Don't have anything I can offer on the stick at this point, other than popping the control panel open and seeing anything is disconnected or jammed around the base of the stick?

As for the game image/colors off/etc, you may want to provide a pic so we can see what is up and help you troubleshoot.

TRON's a keeper. Be proud of your acquisition!

Still moving closer...

Got the joystick fixed, the harness issue seems to have fixed itself, and put the rest of it back together. Messed with the yoke/degaussed and I thaink I am pretty close.

I will be uploading a picture of the screen to make sure of where to go from here (small corrections from what I can tell)

All together the only thing that has cropped up is the test switch does not work. Probably a broken solder point or wire. Gonna keep at it tomorrow.

Still, it was pretty cool playing a game tonight knowing how much work went into the game.

Re:

Cool man! I am trying to get mine up and running too, I need new interconnect cables. I am trying to source some right now.

Bob Roebrts has them

If you mean the ribbon cables between the boards, Bob Roberts has them.

Yeah someone told me about him having them, just wish he took PayPal. Maybe I'm just too lazy to send a money order. I guess I might give it a go.

Down to the last little things....

Got the monitor looking pretty. Now on to the confusing problems.

Both coin lights keep burning out. Have to check power to the sockets.

Strange hum coming from speakers (I am thinking grounding issue, not sure)

High pitched squeal coming from flyback and it goes away if you mess with the focus/screen knobs (not sure if this is a bad sign of the flyback going)

Got to adjust the locks of the back door (they are too far out, using smaller cams)

Game will not go into test mode. Got to run the wires from the switch etc...

Any ideas on what/how it should be grounded would be great.

Finally, I made the mistake of touching the outside of the HOT last night. SHocked the crap out of me. Is this supposed to be or is something wrong? (I only heard about the anode on the tube before)

Thanks.

the hot will bite ya. replace the flyback its most likely going bad. check the wires going form the pcb to the audio amp. theres a black/red wire combo in a brown harness with a bare wire shield. that shield wire tends to break off near the connector, this can cause buzzing in the speakers. you might wan tto take the time to pin-out your voltages form the power suply. also pull the connectors form the power board and make sure none are corroded(common prob) If you are using coin lights rated for 5 volts( like 555's) those are wrong. you need a 12 volt rated bulb. I personally use 194s because theyre free at my work but theres another simular bulb that pulles less current and you might wan tto use those if you have the original power supply still in there.
