I am currently in the process of installing the bob roberts "rebuild kit"

this board was working and had minimal acid damage. which I cleaned up fairly well, but I figured Iwould rebuild it and keep it for a rainy day.

I have spend 2 hours trying to get the solder off of the legs of the molex connectors, I still cannot get them loose enough to come out. I have used the solder sucker then followed up with wick. fucking bitch
If I stay there long enough getting what appears is every drop of liquid metal out of there the fucking trace lifts.

someone have some tricks to this whole process.

PS

Heat up the solder on the pin, pull them out 1 by 1 with needle nose pliers. Then, after they are all out. remove the remaining solder.

Just what he said. I'm working on the same thing right now and that's exactly what I did.
I may actually attempt to put up a video here as soon as I go get more butane for the solder iron.

Also, try smearing some flux on there. It sometimes helps pulling the solder off.

There's also that chip quik stuff. It's supposed to work wonders.

well the way those pins are mounted in the molex, it's pretty difficult. I have the entire board 'rebuilt' with bob's kit, aside from 3 of the 4 molex'.

time to try to flux, or other stuff someone mentioned

I always drop some new solder on the old, that always loosens it up so I can remove it with the solder sucker. Sometimes just heating the hell out of it with an iron isn't good enough.

yeah I have tried that. maybe these are really snug (well I am sure they are) but I am getting no movement, and 1 pin at a time hasn't worked yet.

I am going to try to melt or crush off the plastic part of the molex and then clip each pin with wire cutters, then pull each one while I heat it with the iron.

most likely this thing won't work when I'm done with it anyway, lol.

I always use a small awl. The awl is pointed....while the bottom of those pins are hollow......Heat one pin at a time, apply pressure with the awl from the bottom of the board on said pin. It'll pop the pins right out of the plastic housing. You have to use an awl that is smaller than the pins for this to work....you have to work fast.....and you have to be very careful with the pressure, and your timing.

mine was so acid damaged that i ended up taking a damn sandblaster to it. After that i was able to resolder then desolder everything. THat corrosion makes it damn impossible to desolder.
