Three things I took away from the midnight screening...
1. Place was almost full with only a few scattered empty seats, pretty good sign on a frigid midwestern thursday night.
2. I was one of the oldest people there... I'd say 90% of the people there were college age. And they seemed to really enjoy it.
3. People have said it's great on visual and somewhat weak on story... (In my opinion)There is a bit of truth to that, the movie almost seemed incomplete to me. Then again, wasn't the original more about the visual too? I'm guessing as long as the film makes a decent amount of money, we'll be seeing a sequel in the next couple of years.

It's got to sell a lot of tickets to make any money, at least for the theatrical run. Disney spent almost $300 million to make and market this film, and they'll get around half the total box office. So it has to make almost $600 million worldwide, and usually the US accounts for half of the box office.

Thus, the golden number is $300 million in BO in the US. That's at least 20 million people seeing this movie. Of course this does not include later revenue from pay per view, cable and DVD sales, which will add to the haul.

Some "experts" were claiming that the movie was only going to gross $70 million opening weekend. It seems inconceivable that this movie will make less than $100 million opening weekend.

Where's it at? I wanna go jack that bitch up! ;-)

Now that Chris verified the taxes and setup for the game are legitimate, I don't think there is any harm in mentioning it again. It is at DeLeo Bros. Pizza in Woodbury. They have a bunch of classics there from a local op. Most of them are conversions so bad they make your eyes bleed, but they play and are a good time nevertheless.

I plan on carving my initials in one side of Tron tonight. You can write obscene things all over the other side. I don't smoke and you can't smoke in doors in MN anymore anyway, but I am going to bring some lit cigarettes so I can set them on the control panel and the buttons. :)

I saw this movie 9 months ago. Did they still have Mortal Kombat in the arcade scene? That kind of ruined the 80's arcade nostalgia for me.

This movie exceeded my expectations ! I am a very happy Tron fan right now
I really don't have anything bad to say about the film. I really loved the ending of the film, really left me thirsty for more! Love all the tie in's from the original, Olivia Wilde was nice on the eyes :) Going back 3 or 4 more times ! was just now wondering when Sam comes back to the real world he is wearing that necklace, could that be a imprinted code or copy of you know what....??? don't want to spoil the movie in case someone didn't see it yet.

END OF LINE.........

TRON SUCKS! I wonder how long it will take to get the scent of all the 40 year olds coming out of the basement for the first time in 20 years out of the movie theater.

The only thing I can hope for is that the movie doesnt make good money and this will be the end of tron for good.

not that i saw. the "latest" game i could make out in the arcade scene was a Mario Bros in a blue Nintendo cabinet.

I saw it and I was impressed. I remember seeing the original Tron in the movie theatre and it sent some chills down the back to see how they re-did Fylnn's Arcade. Almost to a "T".... I give this movie two thumbs up and a finger or too!! (bad bob and tom pun from one of thier skits) But I am going to see it again at a IMAX theatre within a week or so... As my friend put it ..."Tron.... Daft Punk.... they were made for each other" Now on the other hand what I think would have been cool... is if Wendy Carlos put a spin on a track in the movie... that would have rocked my socks...

But last but not least.... (and for those who haven't seen it) They opened a door.... I smell the sequal to something more tight in the future. I feel this isn't the last time we will see Tron on the big screen....

It was on the left side as he was walking down the isle. It was very clear so they probably took it out.

Funny you mention that, I did notice Mortal Kombat. It was in a conversion cabinet for sure though, as the outline of the cab under the plastic was nowhere near a Midway cab. You could see the characters fighting during the demo though clear as day.

Worked on Tron for 3 years....

I guess not really the place for a personal and constructive critique....

The arcade scene and choice of cabinets they used was Awesome.

I am sure there were a million versions of the script, and all kinds of ideas floated around over the years.

since the subject's been breached with MK but nobody's started the list yet, what other games did you see in the arcade scene? (i suppose this deserves a SPOILER ALERT for the SUPER GEEKY)

i caught Battlezone, Spy Hunter, Mario in a blue Nintendo cab, Thief, Route 16, and a GDI cab that was probably Slither. i know i'm missing a bunch that should be obvious so i suppose that'll be my excuse to go back and see it a second time with my wife. :)

Im pretty sure Gene- from vintagearcade in Burbank- was the source for most of the machines used in that sequence.

Yea, someone didn't do their homework unless they're thinking Finn's closed down after '92. Would have been cooler to put a space theme game on the end rather than Mario Bros. Some studios (Pixar) will get every detail right for the enthusiasts. Makes a more authentic experience.

I'm pretty sure I heard a Pole Position in the mix...
