Tron legacy ruled!!!!!!!!!

Saw the movie last night with a few friends and I went in with low expectations based on the internet chatter. What I saw was a great movie with some of the best, if not the best, special effects. Sure there were a few scenes that were hokey, but overall a great movied wrapped up in some jaw dropping special effects. I even ducked a couple of times as I thought I was going to take a flying disc in the face. :)

If you see this movie, you need to see it in 3d. Simply stunning. I also got goosebumps once the Journey song started playing as Sam was walking past the covered arcade games.

Thank you Disney.

Saw it again last night. Both my date and I loved it, and spent hours afterwards talking about it over drinks. Life is good.

I'd go see it again today. Can't wait for the next one.

Went and saw it in IMAX to compare to the XD Real 3D theatre. I still like XD better but it was great in IMAX as well. Probably going again next weekend ;)

I saw it on Saturday in 2-D, from what I read it seemed like the 3-D didn't add much to the movie other than an inflated ticket price. It was fine in 2-D. I loved it, I thought it had a lot more meat to the plot than the first. I thought there were a lot of plot elements to keep track of during the show, especially the winks and nods to the first movie. I hope it does well enough for a sequel. I'll buy the DVD when it comes out (I don't have a blue ray player or an HD TV). I would love to have a TRON arcade game :)

I liked it alot and posted so in the "sucked" thread. Like I said there, I don't see how you could be a fan of the original Tron and not like Legacy...

Put me on that list of "Liked the original, didn't like Legacy". It had some decent parts, but over all, the movie just dragged. I understand what they were trying to do with the storyline, but I almost dosed off a few different times during the show. If you liked it, great more power to ya. I don't think it lived up to the hype it was getting from media, and here(KLOV) as well.

Went to see it in IMAX 3D and enjoyed it a lot. I wasn't expecting anything amazing and was happy to see a decent flick.

bump just so this thread is over the top of the it sucked thread.
Fwiw, i really liked it.

Hehe, bump to the top!

I just saw this movie today - and I loved it. Everything (Effects, characters, music, story) was awesome, though I can see where some people who were unfamiliar with the first movie may have had some difficulties.

I figured I had to post in this thread, after all. :D

Saw it in IMAX/3D.... I liked it... didn't love it. Felt just like the new Star Trek to me. Tons of amped up action (some not needed), some story and they used the film to fan-service and tie up old ends and make room for possible future expansion.

...not bad things really... I just hope a TRON 3 can really push the universe more. As of right now, the new movie felt more like TRON v1.5 to me.

I'm not sure what this film making technique is (Avatar, Star Trek, TRON).... "action-o-roma" maybe?? Again, not really bad... but I feel like SciFi movies are getting less smart to pander to the general audience. Kind of like how video games are going "casual" to pander and just pull in the $$. Is it bad, no... but.... I don't know.... something is missing somehow.

Anyway... spoiler warning I guess...

My biggest issue with the new TRON is that we've seen all those things before. Disc battle, check... Lightcycle battle with escape, check... slow section of movie on a flying frieght train and suddenly enemies abound, check... I guess I was really hoping for some new "games" or "battles" than the ones that we've already seen.

The new film making technique you are referring to is called adaptation. Exciting graphics, effects, and action is necessary to make movies worth the money and time - which is not a bad thing. Remember, Disney is a company. And companies are out there to make a profit.

I'm actually glad Tron: Legacy was done this way. Compare it to something like the original Tron or Star Trek. Let's face it - those two earlier films would be considered too primitive and too boring to make them popular today. That's the reason why filmmaking has to adapt.

Same here. I liked it alot. And I think IMAX 3D is definitely the way to see the movie.

Anybody who went into it expecting a life-changing experience probably had unrealistic expectations to begin with.

Much better than I thought it was going to be. Actually, I like it a lot!

Though I believe some parts could of been done better acting/story wise.. Plus what happened to the grid bugs?

All and All I wish there was a new arcade game for this movie.

Saw it today in IMAX. It was a lot better than I was expecting.

There were some story issues, especially near the end of the movie but I think a Director's cut on DVD may help with some of it. Maybe not.

Overall, this was a much better movie than the original.

I don't think there will be another Tron movie made.

I thought it was ok. Honestly, I thought the story was pretty weak, and very predictable. But it looked good, and that's all I really expected anyway.
