Tron legacy ruled!!!!!!!!!

Really Liked It!

Pretty much what I expected and my 15 year old son loved it. The whole Zeus "David Bowie from the 1970's character" was a little over the top. That guy has played Tony Blair in more than one other film. See Cillian Murphy play Dillinger's son was cool, but he had too small a part. Good action movie overall...

I was not disappointed and the little bit of hokey-ness and preachy stuff was exactly like the original. Wouldn't have minded if Daft threw a little hint of Wendy's themes in there, but I couldn't help but scream out when he flipped on the lights to Flynn's arcade! The music was PERFECT!!!!

On the other hand this movie has a direct tie in to our hobby. It's probably the biggest new thing we've had connected to our hobby in a long time.

I just wonder how many people who were at the Midnight show last night were looking at that arcade, and thinking, Man I wish I could have some of those games...
Wonder if there would have been more if all of the games hadn't been covered.

.... loved the disc throwin', loved the sirens (esp the girl named GEM), ...

Was I the only one who thought about this once I heard the name Gem?

But yeah, screw all the haters and critics. The movie totally excedded my expectaions, which werent high. I know they set this up for a sequel, which is fine I guess, I just hope it dosent get too carried away.

On a side note, there were about 50 people watching the movie, and not a single one of them stopped to play my Tron in the lobby. I dont see this catching on.

I went with 4 friends (two male, two female) to see it and we all loved it. I was headbanging to the music all the way through and one of the girls in our group kept jumping in the air screaming at how awesome the fight scenes were. After the fact we found ourselves in front of an old mall arcade, gave each other 'the look', and played a ton of retro goodness. After seeing the movie everyone is begging to come over and play my games and talking about their memories of the things when I never even knew they were into it... I was inspired to clear out all the junk in the garage, bring up the rest of my games and set up a proper gameroom for once. Overall, this was a triumph.

After seeing 48% on Rotten Tomatoes and seeing the bad reviews, I went in expecting Phantom Menace ( complete with Michael Sheen playing the Jar Jar Binks equivalent) all over again. I kept waiting for the many cringe-worthy moments I had read about, and waiting, and waiting, and waiting and guess what, they NEVER came. What I got instead was something I never expected. A movie that really met all expectations and then some.

You would think in a modern movie, the idea of a guy getting zapped into a digital grid would seem hokey as all Hell, but as soon as I saw the reaction on Sam's face, and that soundtrack by Daft Punk kicked in, I completely bought into this new Tron world and if you really stop to think about all of it, a lot of it makes sense. I will keep this spoiler free but will say there were some very solid moments that were very unexpected in a good way and I will be seeing this movie again. My only complaint : I did not see it on Imax. That will be fixed soon. This is one for the biggest screen you can find.

i agree with luckyman.....

i also saw the midnight showing last night and loved the movie. i loved the story (def left open for the next film), loved the introduction of dilinger's son (the dude from 28 days later), loved the light cycles, loved the disc throwin', loved the sirens (esp the girl named GEM), loved the whole ENDOFLINE bar and the the owner/promoter of the bar ATLAS (great character, stole the show), loved the ENCOM board room scene, loved the classic references to the original film, loved the recognizer scenes (wish there was more tank action), loved the bond between sam and flynn, loved QUORRA, loved the ending (makes me wanna see more).

cant wait to go back and see the movie again with the family for round two :)

I've just come back from my "Round 2" and I plan a third round at a IMAX theater before the end of the year. I agree.. a+++ all the way they had what I was expecting and more.

Just got back from seeing it in Imax 3D.....words cannot describe how awesome it was. I went in with mediocore expectations, and was highly suprised to find a great revival of the cyberpunk genre. I really hope we see another movie out of this.

I am not going to read through this thread until I see the movie incase something is given away, lol.

but my wife and I started watching tron (original) tonite, to get her fired up. We are half way through (stopping for the night) and she is saying "what an awesome movie"

Tron is de shit and that is all. Just got home frm seeing it at the IMAX 3D and it was spactacular!

A buddy of mine hosted a TRON party last night where we talked, sat around, ate, and watched TRON. Then the group (17) went to see the new TRON at the local IMAX 3D theatre. If anyone does see it at an IMAX, I recommend you sit back a little since the screen is big and the action is hard to take in even halfway to the screen. There were some teenagers in our group and they liked it too (some had seen the original and some had not).

My thoughts of the movie... I gave it a solid 8/10 due to a few things I won't mention until everyone has a chance to see it first. I really enjoy the original movie.

If you love games, please go out and see Tron: Legacy this weekend.

It's in all of our best interests for this film to succeed.

I went last night bracing for the worst from all the chatter I'd been hearing... and guess what? It was great. Not perfect, but incredibly entertaining... most especially for Tron fans. There is much to enjoy and it is definitely worth seeing in the theater.

In my opinion, it did not deserve such mixed reviews... and most I've read seem lazy, as if they're reviewing the rumors rather than the movie itself.

See it and make up your own mind.

Saw the Fri 7pm show on Imax 3d. and all I can say is WOW! The effects were incredible! I think the naysayers on this were expecting the in-your-face snakes on a plane thing. The depth of the 3d and the cinematography was definitely as groundbreaking as the first as well as the Blackhole. (nice tribute btw) would have liked a tank scene, and once again the no real Grid Bugs. but Fantastic movie!
