Tron: Legacy Movie Reviews are now available

I'd guess Disney has about $250 million, minimum, riding on this movie. That's a lot of fans...

I'm still going, even with the bad reviews.

A friend of mine says he saw an advanced screening and was quite "disappointed" in the film. Which really sucks because he' a bigger Tron fan than I am.

:(

when is there a good review on a sci fi film ? I dont go by reviews, it's that person'e opinion, i happen to have my own. We all ride on different taste. I happen to like cheeseburgers from Wendy's. Seriously though.... what do you want from a kid's sci fi fantasy film from Disney.
The movie is there to entertain, i am positive it will do just that. My 2 cents :)

We're all going to see it anyway, so we are review-proof. But the average moviegoer might pass on this film.

FYI, for people who live in LA, there is going to be at least one advance screening this weekend. If they have other screenings, advance tickets will probably go on sale mid week.

Yeah... I told my friend to STFU about it that I didn't even want to know....

I'm even avoiding the commercials. The less I know the better. Those links above? TABOO for me!

EDIT: Come to think of it... this THREAD is now off limits for me. Bye!

I haven't read any reviews yet, but if I had to make a complete shot in the dark guess, it would be that Disney probably made a lot of compromises with the film to appeal to a mass audience, but in the end, it will still be too Tron for the average movie goer, and not Tron enough for Tron fans, and as a result it will appeal to absolutely no one.

The "hold" on reviews of the film was released as of last night, so now reviews of Tron Legacy have started to come in, from advance screenings:

Doesn't look very promising. Hmmm...

How is it that an average of 8/10, 75 fresh and 36,488 want to see compared to 3021 don't want to see...doesn't look very promising? Ain't it cool news reviewed it and they liked it. Sure it had it's flaws, but they all do. I think this is very promising

...I think the reviews are mixed. It's early. The reviews are worse than I was expecting. Hollywood Reporter didn't like it, Variety did.

People will go see it anyway, it's critic proof, at least for a certain fan base. Is that fan base going to buy $500 million worth of tickets so this movie can break even? Hard to say at this point...

The biggest fans are usually the most disappointed. Worrying about whether or not non organic clothing could resonate at a close enough frequency to an organic body to be captured by the same particle-izer beam rarely makes for a good experience.

As long as the plot holes are only large enough to drive a light cycle through, but not a recognizer, I will enjoy it.

Well, people have been saying that the original TRON movie sucked ass for close to 30 years. That has not made me love the original movie any less.

Reviewers... bah, what do they know...

Like Clint Eastwood once said:

"You know they say opinions are like assholes... everybody's got one"

I have to agree with this, just because a Sci fi film got good ratings and reviews and everyone liked it doesn't mean its good at all. I mean look at Avatar got great reviews everyone in the mass public gave it raving reviews but the movie completely sucked balls.

Oh saw some Tron toys at Walmart today there really neat some of the best toys I have seen in a while for kids. I would say like 90% of the toys I see for kids these days are just cheap useless crap. I'm actually thinking about getting them regardless of how the movie is.

THAT'S AWESOME NEWS!! I always enjoy the movies that the reviewers dislike and hate the ones they like.

Nobody in the movies I like ever wins an OSCAR!

The part where the Recognizer blew Flynn's head off had me in tears. The part where Tron came into the real world through the EDOT machine was also powerful.

gotcha.
