Tron LE Defects

holy crap....there's no way i could wait even a couple of weeks to play my LE after (finally) receiving it.

LOL!

If the playfields were made at least 30 days prior to you receiving the game then you are fine to wax the game. With the amount of clear Stern applies I can't see it being an issue.

How bad does the overspray look? Any pics?

The bottom of my Pro looks like this, should I be pissed?

All Sterns are like that, not a big deal. Stern doesn't treat the LEs any different that the regular production games. Plus Stern doesn't manufacture the cabinets themselves another vendor does.

It's not on the bottom of the cabinet, it's on the inside above the playfield. The texture is different and there are drips rolling off of the extra spray. Is this on anyone else's LE?

My rubber disc flew off last night.
It seems the adhesive they are using dries hard and solid on the plastic disc but not the rubber. I am trying super weathership adhesive now.
I then tested to see how strong the center part of the disc was on and it pulled rigth off with no force at all. I reglued that as well.

After how many plays?? Mine is still on there after about 100...

Well, I had a problem with the opto's leading into the spinning disc, so much that I couldn't play my Tron LE for 4 days.

On top of that, the Disc came flying out of the spinner. lol. This was only after about 50 plays.

Well does the game come factory set to coin op or freeplay?
That would tell you right there who they are marketing to.

that's the problem, I agree the LE is mainly for a home buyer although I feel they are only halfway marketing it to home buyers. Gary Stern still says the home buyer is not his target audience. So they add a few items not on the regular production and call it a LE but the same manufacturing process is followed, nothing special for the LE.

Someone on RGP mentioned they removed the apron on their Tron LE and it had a different game # on it that the game that person bought. They are just slapping them together just like the normal Trons.

That being said even though you would think more QA would go into this game that is not the case. You have to go over every inch prior to playing the game.

Question for you guys that bought a Tron:LE: Did you wax the playfield before playing the first few games? If not you should have :)

I'm typing this from Vegas, was at the phof today. They have a Tron LE here so I've been able to play it in addition to another one I've played at a friends house in San Diego. I like Tron a lot even though ball times are very short. Would consider buying one, but all these reports of qc issues really make me wonder if that would be a good move.

My friend had a party last night to show off his new Tron LE. It has the same issues that have already been mentioned. The Recognizer doesn't move correctly... but he hasn't tried to fix it yet. And before the night was over the rubber disc came flying out!
Still a pretty fun game though. I don't feel compelled to run out and buy one, but it is a solid game.
Oh, and I forgot to mention, he has a shaker motor installed. That was a nice touch (really should have been included in the LE package).
One thing I did find odd/disappointing was that the Recognizer was not lit up.... And it appears to have been designed to take some kind of lighting. Strange thing to cut out of the production. Oh well, I'm sure somebody has already made a mod for it.
