I was curious if anyone else had defects on their Tron LE.

1. The black paint on the inside of the cabinet had paint drip marks from over spray.
2. One Chrome rail wasn't completely chromed.
3. Small white paint chip in an area of black on the play field that was clear coated over.

Game issues.

1. Recognizer get's completely stuck or won't move left.
2. 1 out of 15 plays ejects two balls instead of one.
3. Rare but 3 bank does go up and down for a cycle before it stops.

I have read the posts about the game issues affecting others. How many of you are seeing defects on the game ascetics?

Overall the game is beautiful. Just not happy about the physical defects. The mechanical ones I can probably correct myself.

Hey Matt.
I have the same issue on my right chrome trim piece. Stern is going to send me a new one. Call them and tell them you have the same issue and they should send out a replacement.
There are 2 screws that hold the motor to the bracket for the recognizer. Loosen those screws 1/4 -1/2 turn or whatever until the recognizer moves freely. Heard they over torqued them causing the recognizer motor to bind.
I only noticed mine eject 2 balls once during gameplay, don't know if it was a fluke or not.
No fix yet from stern on the 3 bank drop target assembly.

I wouldn't take it personally, these are typical Stern quality control issues that pop up over the years. You might be able to get them to send you a new playfield, they have done that for other games in the past (NON-LEs). You would have to do the swap yourself though :D

I agree call them as see what they will do.

Might be applicable, but on their Indiana Jones, there's a captive ball target that you whack to open up a scoop. It frequently does the exact same thing people are describing with the 3-bank target. You will hit it and it will cycle twice, or will cycle a second time when closing after locking a ball in the scoop.

Not nearly as frustrating because it's a great opportunity to get an additional ball lock if you're quick enough instead of trapping your ball where it will almost certainly roll straight down the field and drain. :p

Mine seems to suffer from this as well. I moved it lightly with my finger to see if it was bound up and it didn't seem to be. Then after awhile, it started to go to the left on its own. I'll be interested to see if it works ok today...

Where is the motor? On the playfield or behind it?

Tom

Mine has that problem, no binding what so ever. The problem on my machine is that the spring that holds the arm against the motor is bent. Since the spring is "stretched" there is not enough resistance to hold the arm against the motor when the arm is supposed to go left.

Here are two pictures:

I love the bitching at LE owners on RGP about how you should "expect" issues out of the box to correct, as operators (some who've commented as such) always go over a machine before leaving it.

Uh HELLO, this LE wasn't marketed to operators, and as such out of the box it should be fucking PERFECT and QA should have been all over the LE's before they went out the door.

If I bought one and had the issues I'm hearing, I wouldn't be fixing fuck all...they'd be sending someone to my house to do it for me. You paid a premium for an LE, that was marketed to home users...end of story.

that's the problem, I agree the LE is mainly for a home buyer although I feel they are only halfway marketing it to home buyers. Gary Stern still says the home buyer is not his target audience. So they add a few items not on the regular production and call it a LE but the same manufacturing process is followed, nothing special for the LE.

Someone on RGP mentioned they removed the apron on their Tron LE and it had a different game # on it that the game that person bought. They are just slapping them together just like the normal Trons.

That being said even though you would think more QA would go into this game that is not the case. You have to go over every inch prior to playing the game.

Question for you guys that bought a Tron:LE: Did you wax the playfield before playing the first few games? If not you should have :)

Numbnuts Gary can say whatever he wants, but he knows damn well that Ops aren't buying the LE.
When only 400 units are going out the door as LE's, and you know this(Claiming otherwise is BS on their part), a little extra QA should be had...

Re:

Is Sterns loyalty to their customers resolving these issues without incident? (I would hope so.)

How bad does the overspray look? Any pics?

The bottom of my Pro looks like this, should I be pissed?

LOL!

You technically shouldn't even play the game if the clearcoat is that fresh really. I have been told waiting 30-45 days until after the clear has been shot is the best amount of time to wait. The question is when did they make the playfields.

holy crap....there's no way i could wait even a couple of weeks to play my LE after (finally) receiving it.

I'm not the least bit frustrated. I'm enjoying the game immensely.

I really just want the software to be a bit more polished. Some rule tweaks, some more animations and a real attract mode would be nice.
