I did buy a battery holder from bob roberts awhile back to install on my old tron.
this one does not keep score currently. I seem to remember in ctozzi's video when he bought it, that he had cut the batteries off.

Is there a nvram (not sure I even know what that stands for, but I gather it's to save high scores, lol) or something like that for this? And if so, would that be frowned upon by twin galaxies?

if you use the mcr switcher adapters they should save the high scores.

sounds good, where do I sign up?
is that the conversion to a switching power supply I see guys do?
Mine runs too good right now to mess with it.

yeah. mspaeth builds/sells them. i imagine his save the high scores too. you'll need to pm him for more info on them...

If you're serious about saving scores, just replace the 6116 on the board with a dallas 1220y. (Wouldn't hurt to jumper vbatt to +5 to eliminate the diode drop).

The battery backing on those boards is pretty dumb, since if you disconnect the PCB (or power board) from the power harness, you lose VBatt, and your scores go away. If you put a NOVRAM on the board, you're golden.

One of these days, I'll prob put together a ROM eliminator + SEEP hgh score kit for some MCRs, but I don't konw how well it'd "fit" inside the stack... that was in the plans for the Tron + SH multi anyway.

I have nothing technical to add really, but I'd venture a guess that the "NV" in NVRAM stands for "Non-volatile." Or maybe not.
