I picked up a non-working tron project and wanted to ask you guys a couple of preliminary questions. The screen would power up blue at the time of pick up and at a glance the power supply had signs of acid damage. I checked the +5 output of the power supply when I got home and it read 6.3. Im not sure how long the pcb saw this voltage but do you guys think that voltage would definately have hurt something? I oredered a rebuild kit for the power supply from bob and will be putting that in shortly but was just curious if anyone had a good working knowledge of these boards if mine needs to be sent out :)

d'oh!!

with my tron, i did rebuild it at first. (mine had no 5v)

that lasted about a year and then it petered out again.

Im now using a power supply adapter with a heavy duty happ power supply like this one:

Its very possible your board may be damaged depending on how long it saw that voltage. Id try replacing the ribbon cables, those are a common failurepoint on those boardsets.

so to recap:
replace power supply with adapter and modern power supply

if no good replace ribbon cables

if that dont work, your gonna have to send the boardset out to somebody. Theres a few folks here that are pretty good at board level repair.

iI got my oem power supply cobed enough to put out the correct voltages (lots of jumper wires for the broken traces) and now it boots to some garbage on the screen. Who here can fix tron pcbs? I tried reseating everything with no change.:)
Thanks Jason
