Trying to remove the bezel from my Tron. - Need to clean monitor glass.

I have already removed the FOUR screws from the bottom of the bezel and the four
that sit BEHIND the marquee.

Bezel "seems" loose, but it wont come out

Were these originally also "glued" in?

I'm stuck.

Any tips greatly appreciated.

Thx much

Rob

Tron Windshield Stuck!?!?

Tron Service Manual refers to the bezel as the "windshield"

Page #33

Says there are 8 screws holding it in.

Already removed those, still stuck....

Rob - doing this from memory so excuse me if i send you down the wrong path - is the shroud in place (the big plastic shroud? This thing needs to come out first as i recall - 4 screws ABOVE, underneath the marquee - that unit just slides out and *i think* provides access to the bezel glass (the glass is on a down angle right?)

Jon - yes the "shroud" is in place

that is what I am trying to remove

Service manual refers the the shroud as "the windshield"

I have removed 8 screws - still wont slide out

??

No - control panel is still on

does that need to be removed before the "windshield" ?

You might want to remove the control panel since your going to need to remove it anyway when you take out the glass. I am not sure if control panel also locks in the Windshield Bezell but it might give you a better look.

ok - shroud / windshield / spit shield / whatever.....

As i recall - 3 screws on the metal plate (lifts off). Then, 4 screws on the spit shield lower. 4 on the top... As suggested, CP off. Slide it out... no glue should be holding it in - check for a "lip" or something hooking on the top?

I recall on mine it was tight / stuck, a little finesse may do it....

Finally got the windshield out

Had to pry it out with a flathead screwdriver

Had to pop the bottom "lip" on the bottom at both the left and right sides to get it to come out

Tight as a damn drum......

Thanks for all the tips and info

Removing Tron Shroud / Windshield

Reviewed this post, as it seems to be the same issue I'm having with my Tron. I need to clean the cover glass over the monitor, but it seems that I need to remove the shroud / aka "windshield" to get to it. I've tried many times, but it seems completely jammed / glued.

Can someone confirm that this means removing the entire interior art from the unit (including rear plexi / picture)? Before I try jamming flatheads into the thing I want to be sure I'm trying to get the right piece out.

Thanks -

that is a three sided piece that all comes out in one piece with the bottom which is the glass for the monitor in it.

Im in the process of installing my shroud, and it goes in through the front, so dang tight, I can barely get it in the proper place, I stopped trying until I HAVE to get it in there, Im going to have to squeeze it forward on the top 1/4", and it just doesnt seem to go, as of right now :)

i had this same problem..... it was called lots of hardened gunk between the glass and shroud.... use careful excessive force and a good stance and i bet itl pop out.

Now I have a question for ya. What is that smaller piece of glass called just below the CP.?
Do you know where I can get one?
