I just purchased a non working tron. I put a known working pcb and ps in it and adjusted the +5 at the pcb. If I turn it on the screen comes up and looks normal but I get this horrible LOUD hum, then I blow the 2A 12V fuse. Turning the volume knob has no effect on the LOUD noise nor does adjusting the +12v. Any ideas? Thanks, Andy

could be something in the audio circuit is shorted
use my ESR meter and check the capacitors
put a resetable fuse in and check the voltage of the audio input from the power supply. see if i could measure it before the resetable fuse does its job

check the connector/pins inside the connector/wiring with the audio input from the PS, see if there is a visually detectable problem

amp could be bad/test

when I had issues with a loud hum, it ended up being the connection at the pcb.

It's the 9 or 10 pin molex that connects to the middle board I think. wiggle those wires around when the machine is making the loud noise and see if you get any change.

tron issue

Thanks to all that helped. I had a bad audio amp. I swaped it out with a spare and it works fine. Andy
