Fired up the machine after a while of being idle... played fine up until I bumped the machine going after that last light cycle...

Power supply fuse has no continuity but is intact...

Replaced fused, no dice. Get a shortly lit LED on the PCB and a blue screen (not powered by microsoft!)

Battery was removed 12 years ago, along with the purple wire cut.

So in my opinion it boils down to the classic power supply issue, so I think.

The question:

Should I go the switcher route or fix the power supply with a kit from Bob?

New shiny object in the adapter board and switcher... sexy...

Purist in me says "Fix the power supply... fix the power supply"...

I certainly hope the game PCB didn't take a hit... I'd be stuck like Flynn in Legacy.

Thoughts, comments, suggestions from here?

Thanks!

Did you test ALL the fuses on the power "board"

I believe there are SEVEN

5 on the board and 2 on the top of the big blue caps (screw-in kind)

Test ALL of those

My Tron died last week

Turned out to be 1 fuse that "looked" good

Test 'um

You know, I did test all the ones except for the ones on the caps... once I get past an issue at work that has called my attention, I'm on that. Thanks much... will post back in a bit.

i did a svram mod on jack's and it worked great for about 8 hrs, and then died, the svram blew up, replaced with a new one, and would get stuck at boot screen (scrambled picture) turned out psu wasn't putting out enough power on the batt line, so i told him to just get the switcher kit, it ran fine all thru gamewarp 36+ hours, no issue (even the tron world record holder played it for a bit).

if it still doesn't boot, bring the board over, and can check out.

probably something else but confirm that the slam switch inside your coin door is tightened down and not loose enough to short to the mechs and pop the fuse. Since you were moving the machine physically when it went out this may be the case. Of course this could have caused further damage that needs to be addressed or the PS may have simply crapped out.

Definitely noted... will check tonight... thanks for the suggestion.

Slam switch is fine but on inspection the ground strap to the coin door broke tore off... I jumped it with alligator clips... same issue.

Noticed that the fuse on the power supply started to glow and I powered down.

I'm thinking the power supply is really pissed and I'm hoping that it didn't take out anything on the game boards.

Ordered the midway PS kit from Bob... will fix it until it breaks more then I will order the arcadeshop PS/adapter... fun!
