Tron: Legacy almost operates as a litmus test for how much we will tolerate in our tent-pole filmmaking. Just how much bad dialogue, poor acting, inexplicable plotting, and emotionally-vapid characterizations will we accept as long as we've been convinced that the film is "cool"? How little actual content will we demand in exchange for $300 million light shows disguised as motion pictures? We casually accept seemingly intentional mediocrity in our franchise films, from The Flintstones to Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, holding our nose but making these films into smash hits. I am reminded of Patrick Stewart's monologue towards the end of Star Trek: First Contact. "The line must be drawn here. This far, and no further." If we as moviegoers accept this artless, soulless confection as a suitable example of big-budget filmmaking, then we deserve everything we get in the following years. The apparent absence of any attempt at quality renders even the (only occasionally) pretty pictures impotent and dull. And make no mistake; Tron: Legacy is a stunningly dull would-be movie.

Hear Hear!

The worst movies being the Star trek Reboot, Transformers, A-Team, and so on. Stop remaking movies! Make something new!

Guess you never saw the original? If you did, you would know that it's exactly the same acting, dialogue, acting, etc...so it's perfect. If you didn't like the first one, then you shouldn't have wasted your money on Legacy. It's your own damn fault, so don't bitch about it.

Just because its the same doesnt make it good. Both are crap

I couldn't disagree more.

Tron is the perfect "sequel/remake" IMO. Indy 4 was bad. Star wars 1-3 was not good. The Transformers, Karate Kid, and other remakes are bad.

Tron was perfect. It was exactly like the original and is a fitting continuation of the original.

I haven't seen legacy, but all remakes or long delay sequels/prequels suck. I just hope they don't mess with Back to the Future!

i concur with matrix,i love movies! however,i hate remakes and some sequels.the worst thing Hollywood does is remake a great film, like the day the earth stood still and turn it into a billion dollar light show completely void of story. the only thing i can say about Indy 4 is south park nailed my feelings about the film. as for tron,I'm not a fan of the first movie so i will wait to see it via netflix. it all goes back to this, your voice is your money. if you dont pay to see it then Hollywood will listen.

You think the Batman reboot sucks?

To the op, couldn't you have put this into the Tron Legacy Sucks thread?

It was OK, but remember that the Batman reboot was a reboot of a reboot. Those Micheal Keaton movies from the 80's Were weird. What do you expect when Tim Burton directs? He screwed up charlie and the chocolate factory too. I don't know why that movie needed to be remade.

You see the first Batman movie sucked hard (but was charming), the Tim Burton Batman sucked less (but was weird), The latest Batman movies are OK, but don't really capture Frank Miller's Batman at all (which I what they are going for based on the title). I wish someone would make a Batman movie based on the Detective Comics in the late 30's. It would be so awesome.

Since nobody here is a professional movie reviewer, it would really help to know what movies you do like when your bashing another movie. Listing ones you don't like doesn't do much to help your point.

Because for all I know you hated TRON but you liked Steel Magnolias!

I heard Michael Medved's review today on his radio show. He hated the 1st Tron movie and walked into this one expecting he'd hate it too but ended up liking it. He gave it 3 stars (out of 4, presumably).

I don't think that's relevant to his review. I applaud his honesty.
