I have the Tron Free play eproms for sale.
This eprom replaces the eprom at D2 and allows you to have the free play option on your tron arcade game.

Freeplay mode is turned on and off by setting switch 4 on the dip switch set SW1. When switch 4 is off, the game behaves as it always did. When switch 4 is on, Freeplay is activated. The game will display the word FREEPLAY where it formerly showed the number of credits and PUSH 1 OR 2 PLAYERS where it used to say INSERT COIN. The game will still run through attract mode to help avoid screen burn-in. Pressing one or two player start will start a 1 or 2 player game without any credits needed. If you have your "Allow Continues" dip switch set, when it comes time to continue, you can do it without adding any credits.

Installation of the freeplay chips requires replacing one EPROM on the CPU PCB (the middle one). No other modifications to your PCB or cabinet are required.

Locate the EPROM at location D2 on your CPU board (the middle one in the main three-board stack) and make note of the date and let me know what the date is before buying

30 shipped.

Rather than cutting and pasting, why don't you just link directly to Tim's page?

Matt, didn't you do these originally, or you did some other Bally/Midway MCR games freeplay, and Tim did Tron? I thought you did them all.

I actually asked Tim if I could sell them months ago and he gave me the thumbs up . As for Steph , he's a great guy too and I didn't know he had them that cheap. Although he is in Canada so it takes alot longer to get. I ship priority mail so thre to fours days tops in the US. And my justification for my price is just based on how much it cost me for the blank chips, the photo quality labels , faster shipping, and the programming equipment required to program these chips since you can't use any cheap USB programmer to do them. I do recommend Stephs service though , he always has great prices.

For MCR games, I did Journey, Wacko, and Satan's Hollow. Tim had already done Tron.
I sell the freeplay ROMs that I created for $10 each (shipped). Sometimes when people are ordering score save kits or freeplay chips from me they ask if I can burn the Tron freeplay for them too. I charge $5 (I wouldn't feel right making money off other peoples' work). All my chips come with either a handwritten label or something from my little Brother P-Touch.... If someone wants to put on graphic labels that nobody is going to see, they can do that themselves.

Must...avoid...pointing...out...hypocrisy...

Too late :)

Hey, I did some :)

I thought you did the Sega vectors? Now that you mention it, I recall you doing something on MCR games too. Which ones?

I guess I recall Matt because he did Wacko & Journey which are the two MCR games in my game room.

Thumbs up for Matt's Satan's Hollow freeplay....works great!!

Lol, so instead you undercut him.

I'm not "undercutting" anyone. I don't advertise or post these for sale. I'm just saying what I've charged in the past to burn that ROM when people have asked me to. It's not an expensive EPROM, and I can't think of any burner that can't do a 2764A....

Yes, he does have some interesting ways of justifying his price.

You, yourself are making money off someone else's work, namely the authors of Journey, Wacko, Satan's Hollow... :)

Oh no... don't tell me we're going there again....

Does anyone really think the authors of Journey or Wacko (or any classic video game) are upset that enhancements/modifications have been made to their code to tailor to the collector crowd? I think if they found out about it they'd just be excited to hear that anyone still gave a shit about their games some 30 years later.
If an IP owner of the original work comes to me and tells me they don't like me messing with their code, I'll stop.
