I just picked up a Tron yesterday! However, when I went and picked it up the marquee was not working (no big deal) so I purchased the game and brought it home.

After moving the game I noticed that the black light which seemed to be working correctly and the rear light behind the art started to blink, which is to shut off and come back on again (I think??). The marquee light did not work, so I pulled the starter from the back of the game and put it in the marquee which fired right up, however after playing the game for a few minutes the marquee also started coming on and off again.

Is this a power supply issue? Or a starter/bulb issue?

The bottom front light has been consistent it has always worked and has not experienced these "symptoms." Any thoughts? Could this be just a bad starter (the one I am working with), I thought once the light was on the starter was not used? Any ideas?

I would try new starters and bulbs to have a clean slate and also check wiring for any repair. There is also a molex connector in the wiring going to marquee that could be loose.

That was my plan, just start off with new bulbs and new starters, but it seems weird that they would all act that way, the timing seems to be the same? (I'm not sure if that is true) But, I think that is a good place to start as well.

Just buy yourself 4 new bulbs, 4 starters, and 4 ballasts. 4 starters cost you like $8, and ballasts are like $6 each. The bulbs are pricier, but if you're going to restore it all, just replace them all at once because sooner or later, they're all going to crap out on you.

Fair enough...probably not a bad idea, I just wanted to make sure that it wasn't some wacky power supply issue that I was dealing with, but everyone seems to think it is more than likely a light issue and not a power supply issue.

Ballasts and starters are cheapest. Test all of them with a cheap white light bulb before you throw in an expensive black light. I blew a black and white before I replaced my ballast...big waste of $20. It may still be a power supply issue, but if you've replaced all of the other components, then you'll know for sure.

Well that seems to be it, I replaced the bulbs and starters and those are not working consistently! I do have one other issue, I cannot get the screws out of the top of the bezel to get to the black light. I have a security torque set and it does not seem to have the size that is in the Tron. Anyone have any idea what size torque I need to take these out?

Thanks again!

Yes, sorry about that, they are now both working..

However I do not seem to have the correct size security torque to take off the bezel to get to the black light (which is still having the issue). I did pickup a new starter and black light for it however I cannot get to it to change it. Anyone know what size it is?

T-25?

Thanks for all the help
