I already have this fixed, But I wanted to put it up here so if anyone else has this issue hopefully it will Help.
I picked up a Tron In the spring, working but with no sound. It had the SSIO error. Had a spare ssio and put that in with new ribbon cables and SOUND!... but if you turned it up at anything over a whisper it would hum and also... you would hear a constant scratch... it would come and go but always be there. I tried all the usual suspects. I cleaned the volume switch, reseated and reflowed the sound amp. repaired a broken ground at the coin door and control panel. I disconnected ths coin door and all the flourescent lamps I even changed the power cord because it was missing the ground prong... Still the same.
Well spring turned to summer and now fall. Ive been meaning to get to it.. just its working so it kinda fell down the list. Im slowly restoring it have sourced most of the parts... so I put in the switcher and adapter from ArcadeShop, figuring Maybe it was the power supply.. maybe a cap was going bad.... AND voila! nice smooth audio... No scratching and NO hum... all is well in the world , at least for the day.. heh
