i have an original tron that i want to sell. all the electronic components work perfectly and is in decent shape. its a tiny bit beat up on the sides (for example the tron logo is a little scratched) from moving it all these years but i think thats reasonable considering how old these arcade games are . i can deliver it to a reasonable area . please email me or call me at 301 787 8004. my name is bryan. feel free to call anytime. thanks

Finally a local game that I've been looking for! I'm buying it! I just called and emailed the guy.

It's already gone up in price. I talked to him a few minutes ago and he said 5 people have already contacted him and it's up to $275 (an offer someone made). So now it's best offer from whoever gets in touch with him today, I guess.

I hate people that back out on deals because someone made a better offer. If you put the game up for $200 and someone will pay $200 then the game is his. I think its time to flood him with offers and see how high we can get it and then whoever is the high bidder can change his mind about buying it.

doesnt matter, he'll just go to the next best offer!!

Flag it as miscategorized if he's playing "or best offer" games without stating that in the title/description.

I ended up getting this cabinet last night. The guy was a douche about the price, but I played along with the bidding war (it's capitalism).

After I saw the post here, I responded with $350 as my first offer at 3pm. He said it was the highest so far, but he called me back an hour later saying he had an offer for $450. I told him I wouldn't pay more than $400 sight unseen and he said he still had to confirm with $450 guy. He calls back and says the $450 guy backed out, so I'm the high bidder at $400. THEN he says "well, it's in FAIR shape" and sends pics showing extreme fading on the side art.

Hmmm.

I leave Philly at 8pm with a borrowed SUV and get there at 11pm with $350 cash in my hand. But he won't let me have it for that. I got him down to $375 and we loaded it into the truck (which it barely fit in), THEN I tell him how much he could have gotten for it (haha). My handtruck didn't quite fit in the back, so I had to ride 3 hours home with the back side window down and the dolly hanging out. But I didn't care because now I had a Tron cabinet. Got it home and unloaded it by myself and I was playing Tron in my garage at 3am. Quite an adventure.

With tolls ($20) and gas ($50), that makes the TCO about $450. Still not bad IMO.

I'm pissed at how this played out. I wish the guy had just put it on ebay. I don't blame bungy because I would have done the same thing. I guess I'm just annoyed that I didn't get the opportunity to make another offer. The guy sent me some grainy photos yesterday afternoon (I saw the worn side art but the rest looked decent). At the time the top offer was $275 so I said I'd pay $350, which seemed reasonable given the starting price. I didn't hear back after that. I definitely would have paid more because it's local and I haven't seen another Tron for sale around here this year. I really hate the idea of paying $300 to have a game shipped.

How much did you say he could have gotten for it?

Lets see some pics of this infamous Tron.

I'll post some pics when I get home, but I'm dead tired after last night.

I told him he probably could have got $650 - $700 in the shape it's in, 800 to 1000 if it was real nice.

Grantman I didn't mean to be underhanded or anything, but I offered him my best price and acted quickly and I guess luck had something to do with it because I was so far away. I agree it should have been an ebay deal too, but I just took advantage of the situation. I don't want to make any enemies here, but I'd be pissed at me too if it were the other way around.

Here are some of the issues with the cab:
-The coin door looks original, but it has a button for credits and the coin slots are sealed up. No keys so I don't know if the mechs are there, but I doubt it. I'll pick the lock later.
-The game plays fine, but the screen is a little squished at the bottom, hopefully just a minor monitor adjustment. Otherwise all electronics look original.
-Control panel is a little loose, but controls feel solid. Spinner is missing original artwork. Overlay is ok.
-The cabinet itself is in decent shape, but on the back on one of the wide angle bends, there is a chunk of wood missing, but looks repairable. Also the bottom back panel door is missing.
-Side art is faded and scratched up. The art in the bezel area and inner sides is peeling in some spots and ripped off in some spots. Marquee top & bottom look good, but lights don't work. The UV light does work as does the light for the translit thing in the back.

Over time, I think I'm going to work on replacing all the stickered artwork.

No problem at all. You had the opportunity to buy it for a decent price and you did. I would have done the same thing. The seller wasn't exactly straightforward in how he handled the situation. I question whether he really had a $450 offer or not.

If anyone else has a Tron for sale in the DC area, let me know!

I'm sure he didn't. I was ready to walk away at that price and I called his bluff.

I'm glad there's no hard feelings. At least there's one less competitor for a Tron in your area.

after all that gas and tolls that you had to spend plus repair cost I wouldn't have paid more than $200 but thats just me. You're lucky he didnt sell it while you were on your way...what a scumball.

I was afraid of that the whole way down, wouldn't have put it past him.

When all is said and done and I have it restored to my satisfaction, I know I'll be a little upset at the total cost. But Tron is a beautiful cabinet and it's the only one I'd devote that kind of time/money to.
