Trojan by Capcom

There was the original Capcom Trojan released in 1986 which was a kit only.

Then, Capcom also released the NES version which was one of the PC-10 titles.

Very different games (as were most Arcade to NES games like Double Dragon, Strider, Gunsmoke, etc.). I actually like the original arcade version better. Though I remember playing the NES version a lot as a kid.

I've got Trojan on my PC-10. My understanding is that you can also swap the original Trojan PCB into both Section Z and Ghosts N Goblins. If I wanted to build a dedicated Trojan, I'd use a GNG cabinet and just change the color.

Yup, they are interchangeable. Man, that would be awesome to have a Capcom classic cab setup to swap those games.

What cab did these kits usually get installed in? Or was GnG a dedicated cab? I've seen them in all different kinds of cabs.

Yeah that's the problem, I wish there was a better looking earlier generic cab that pre-dates the HS1. Everything that Trojan gets put in looks like a bad conversion... like most GnG cabs also.

My GNG was a dedicated machine. It is a cab made of MDF and covered in purple melamine or formica.

Yeah, I just found what the original PCB looked like:

I asked because I found a Trojan bootleg PCB in a stack of PCB's I still had to test and I thought I only remembered this as a Playchoice game.

It's very similar to GnG in gameplay...

Trojan was one of the few games I 'beat' on the NES. Was a fun game and not super difficult like Ghosts N Goblins.

I really like Section Z as well. I have that PCB and would love to dedicate a cabinet to it some day.

I recently acquired a Section Z in a converted Dig Dug cocktail cab. I don't know if the art was made by the previous owner or part of the kit but it looks really cool. I cleaned it up a bit, replaced the top glass, and it is now on location at an arcade that I provide a few games to. The owner tells me that it brings in a decent amount of money, it is no DK but it beats the crap out of Karate Champ and Rtype.

I'll dig into my email and see if I have a pic...

Tested the bootleg Trojan board and it works 100%. It's for sale if anyone is interested. (Remember, I'm in Europe so shipping costs will be pretty high).
