Trog is Alive. Anyone want to see it/play it at CAX?

I had to replace the monitor, so when it was out, I did some structural improvements to the cabinet. Game is pretty much good to go. All it needs is some final cleanup and replace marquee light.. Also needs some touch up painting in the front black area.

I also need to replace the paper text thats behind the monitor glass. Any chance anyone has scanned it/made a file of it??

If people are interested in playing it, I can take it to CAX. I don't think TJ has taken his in the last few years.. Kids dig it with the dino powerups. I will probably install my 2nd pcb in the cab and put the proto bone trog roms in it.. Game is very hard to play that way..

Here are some pics. Its serial number 37 for those interested in numbers..

I know my wife would be happy to see it there. It's one of her favorite games. Back when we were in High School together we used to bike about 8 miles to the mini golf place to play it.

Yeah, Trog is awesome. My brother and I used to play it at the local mall. I've got a Trog PCB, but nothing to play it in currently. I hope to have a horizontal JAMMA set up sometime in the future.

I will plan on bringing it.. My brothers kids liked the game quite a bit.. I too orignally only had a pcb. I could play in a 2 player cab. They always wanted to play the other 2 dinos...

Nice Trog. A friend of mine here in Utah was a hardware engineer on that game, he has a Proto or Test Sample 4 player. Not sure if there are any differences. His initials are the default #3 Daily Dino, JKM.

I love my Trog...such a creative yet simple game. The animations and character design are what's worth it to me.

Cool to hear it will be at CAX this year. I know Ken and TJ usually bring theirs but it's nice to know alternates will be at the show.

not sure why tj has not brought his the last few years. Maybe it has a problem.. Now that this one is fixed, I can bring mine.

Not sure if it was a cabinet design flaw or just this one, but the upper wood monitor mount was loose/free. I have seen a smash tv with its monitor falling in. When I had the monitor out, I put in 4 L iron brackets to support the monitor frame. You might want to check yours..

As for the proto in utah, if he still has the proto roms in it, it plays a very different game that is reffered to as bone trog. Instead of moving the character, you place bones down in their path to make them change directions.. It totally changes the game. Its very hard to play.

Trog is my holy grail of grails. I am glad to see there are some left in their original cabs. Some day I will own a dedicated Trog.

I was getting notifications from eBay, but I guess it my subscription ran out and I didn't realize it. I would have paid the price for either of those dedicated cabs. That game gets played more than any other game by my kids on my MAME cab.

I would contact the seller to see if the 1st one sold. He had listed it 2 or 3 times with no sale. So he might still have it. Its worth an email.. Good luck!
