"Triple Punch" on Craigslist Rochester/Buffalo (not mine)

Thanks for the heads up.

I've been looking for one of these.

Turns out it's in a really cool Crazy Kong cabinet.

Also would like to thank John for picking this up for me. :)

WOW That is some nice artwork! Do you have a CL board for it?

I don't but I really wanted a TP and since the cabinet is so cool I'll probably just leave it the way it is. :)

Nice cab...why doesn't one of those show up around me? ;) I never saw one with the top part of the cab painted red though, all the ones I've seen were pink (to match the rest of the artwork on the bezel, marquee and control panel). I wonder if they ran out of pink at the factory, or if someone just screwed up on that one. Anyway, if you do decide you want a Crazy Kong PCB, dirtsarcade has one for sale:

edit: Playing the game, I wonder if perhaps that cab came from the factory as a TP...TP has both a gorilla and a character that looks like Mario (without a hat). The marquee is the same style as most of the bootlegs that used that shape of cab.

Good catch!

I actually had one of these many years ago but sold it (wish I hadn't).

Pics below are of the cabinet I had.

It was a Crazy Kong and the cabinet was the same but the colors are like you mentioned.

John told me the guy that was selling this one started to do his own resto work on the cabinet and touched up the artwork. Outside of the red background I think he did a great job.

It appears he must have had some talent.

I think he did an awesome job! :)

The guy hand painted all of the artwork on top of the original. Must have thought the pink was a faded red and painted it red. Another thing I noticed was that the CPO has punch where it would normally say jump on a Krazy Kong.

i have two cabs like this. one is a pac clone called "cruncher" and the other has gryuss in it.
the art work is multi themed IIRC. cruncher has white sides. gyruss has a woograin color.

here's a pic of gyruss. if you guys are interested, i can take one of cruncher..

Wow that guy is good with a brush!

Yeah, he is. I swore that looked factory done ;) Hey gotya, does that Pac-Man clone actually say "cruncher" in the game, or just on the marquee? Does the Gyruss have a real Konami/Centuri board, or a bootleg? Just curious :) I see they even have 2 speakers for the stereo sound (all the other cabs I've seen like that only have a single speaker in the center). Also, I'd love to see pics of your Cruncher cab. I love oddball stuff nobody else has :D

The bezel on your Gyruss is actually from the game MARS.

What is that game to the right?

Is it the Sega version of Space Invaders... Space Attack?

cruncher was bought working, but wouldn't boot after it arrived. it just emits a tone. sounds like a galaxian bootleg to me.
yes, it does say cruncher on the marquee. i'll snap a pic tomorrow.

and yes, the missle command next to it is from sega. i actually like the smaller trackball better. from what i read here, this cab housed other sega games.

Too cool! Love seeing the pics and glad someone was able to give it a good home.

Hope the good karma comes back around when I'm done building my game room and ready to fill it up ;)

Could be. I've got one of those Galaxian hardware Pac-Man bootleg boards. Mine doesn't actually mention Pac-Man or anything else in the game. When you coin it up, it just says "BONUS 15000 POINTS", and no manufacturer info or anything. Mine uses the same ROM's as the "pacmanbl" set in MAME (I dumped them and verified it ;) )

When you are ready to fill that game room up you just let me know.

I have PLENTY of stuff for you to fill that game room up with. ;)

...

Triple Punch is awesome. The one pictured on KLOV is actually my old machine. I have a set of NOS sideart for Triple Punch if anyone is interested.

I tried a couple games in MAME, and I think I liked it better when it was called Amidar :D Seriously though, the only thing that really annoyed me was the flame seems to disappear and reappear randomly, sometimes right on top of you if you're along the border
