A big THANK YOU goes out to John (Vectorman) for opening the arcade to my family on Sunday; a day it is typically closed. If anyone ever is traveling through Springfield or Bloomington Illinois I would highly recommend shooting over via Interstate 55 and stopping in McLean. We were driving through, stopped for gas at the interstate exit and then spent an hour in town at the arcade/museum. Normally I am pretty intense when it comes to travel time, making good time, and staying on schedule but this was one pit-stop that I would indulge in anyday.

What a cool setting! Both in the town square and inside with the wood floors, exposed brick walls and unbelievable collection of games. As an aside, it was also very neat, and almost surreal, to see a couple local kids ride over on their bikes to pump some quarters in the machines like it's "all a day in the life..."

I pumped a lot of quarters into the Star Wars Cockpit, Dedicated Lunar Lander, Battlezone, Spy Hunter Cockpit, and a number of pins. The wife also enjoyed the front lounge area to just be able to stretch out and get out of the car. I really liked how the machines are positioned on an angle where you can see the side-art for each cabinet and get a little more personal space when playing the game. I was kicking myself for never thinking of arranging my cabinets like this; for all the money I spent on sideart to then go about and hide it is uncharacteristically dim on my part.

John, thank you again for allowing us a great experience that will become a habit anytime I am near Bloomington. You have a great setup in a really neat town.

That's great to hear! I saw the Route 66 sign but never made the connection that it would be an excellent stop on a Route 66 Roadtrip. McLean kind of reminded me of a town you would see out West that had been built around Route 66's traffic, but in this case the town and this arcade are literally on the Interstate. Very convenient for modern day pitstops.

Yeah, I did a route 66 trip last summer too, and made sure to stop there (I think it was on a Saturday). Talked quite a bit with John (and another guy from Indy who helps him out). Great collection of games he's got.

yup i went there with some friends right when it opened, really good time, wish it was closer. great games, cool atmosphere.

Visited it today.. WOW. It's an amazing setup, beautiful building and games. Also a Huge thank you to John for opening it up on a Sunday. Got to play some games I've only ever played in mame.. Bubbles Duramold, Robotron, Crystal Castles, Tapper, Empire Strikes Back, etc!!!! Great selection of Pins, Loved Medieval Madness! Got to play Zeke's Peak too!
All the Games looked GREAT! I could have spent all day and then some there.

I'm fairly new to the hobby and knowing that I have driven past it literally more than 100 times is crazy. It is only 3 minutes off I-55. I know I'll be planning trips from STL to Chicago with some time to spare and stop by from now on.

Thanks again John, It is truly a fantastic collection.

yeah, its awesome. made it back a second time, with the wife, and he opened it specially for us and we played games until the wee hours of the morning. its also worth mentioning that it was significantly different than the first time i visited, so if you havent been there in awhile, its worth checking in on again!
